COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everett (1908-1939) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Porter is crafted from American malted barley, English and German roasted malts, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Decadent in its depth, with a complex backbone of chocolate, coffee, and malty sweetness, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Everett. 7.5% ALC/VOL 21º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

On tap at the brewery. Probably the best porter I have ever had. Dark black with a light brown head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some smoke. Smooth but bitter, very dry and refreshing, moderate body and average carbonation, becomes more bitter but there is a malty sweetness that lends some balance. Great.

Thick aroma of raisin. Color is brown, but perfectly opaque. Flavor is sweet up front, carrying the fruit, but dries out quickly. Just the right balance of sweet malt and dry drinkability. Beautiful silky palate. Nice rich flavors, perfect balance. Only thing holding it back is complexity, but for the style and what is being attempted, this is hard to beat.

Pour from a bottle;deep dark brown color with a very cool mocha brown head. Aromas are of roasted smoky malt, and a bit of sweet caramel. Super smooth and rich in your mouth. Perfect balance of medium to full body. Initial sweet roasted malt flavor expands in complexity to include coffee, molasses, bitter hops, and cocoa. Nice long finish of aforementioned flavors. Best porter I have had in some time. Yum.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a large sized pale brown head. The aroma holds caramelly and chocolaty malt alongside grapefruity, piny and floral hops. Undertones of tar, ash, meat, ginger, blackberries, cinnamon and cardamom, sweet liquorice alongside a tiny whisper of smoke. Round and friendly nose, really well balanced. The flavour is light sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic. Asphalt, chocolate, coffee, dark caramel, mild citrus, flowers and sweet liquorice. The mouthfeel is super clean and round with a medium carbonation. Pine, tar, liquorice and coffee on the finish. Medium bodied.

Farmhouse, Burlington, VT 12oz ($6.50): Pours a beautiful black with a brown head. Aroma is burnt malts, burnt malts, and smoke, and burnt malts. Normally, I would say a porter has chocolate and coffee; this one doesn’t. All that there is is burnt malts and a delicious sweet fruitiness. It’s like candy that went through a fire of deliciousness. That being said, this is anything but a chugger. I had to nurse this baby, but each wee sip was a pleasure. I like this beer, and am not surprised that it somehow found itself in the 100th percentile.
