3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 AGB (20) - Québec, - MAR 14, 2011
Growler from the brewery. Very Interesting nose with strong nutty/toasty notes. Mouthfeel is good - soft carbonatation - with a hint of smoke. Could be a little more hops in there but still a very good robust porter.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 changeup45 (1373) - Mount Dora, Florida, USA - MAY 24, 2012
Bottle from joeybones3. Full disclosure, a little of this bottle had leaked in transit so I drank it right away. A light hiss when cracking the cap. Very tasty stuff; lots of mocha flavor, perhaps tilting toward straight out chocolate, along with notes of licorice, sweet molasses, ash, and roasty bitterness in the finish. Full-bodied, robust indeed, yet silky smooth and creamy in the body. One of the better Porters I’ve had and a trip to Vermont this summer will allow me to give it another go.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is nice and roasty with coffee, dark chocolate, burnt notes, dark fruits, subtle vanilla and sugary notes. The flavor follows the nose with lots of dark chocolate and sweet sugar and some vanilla notes, I get some dark fruits, coffee, roasted malt, burnt notes and liquorice. The body is the bigger side of full with a creamy mouth feel. Overall a really tasty and robust Porter, one of the better Porters I have had.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 BeerGolem (100) - - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle 500 ml. Pours black with a medium brown head and a nice lacing. Aroma is good, though maybe too subtle: roasted malt, coffee, alcohol and a bit of porto. Taste is the same as aroma, but much more discernible, with some chocolate also. Very complex and well balanced. Not far from a 10 out 10. Palate is good, nice warming alcohol, creamy texture. Dry finish. Overall, an outstanding robust porter!
Bouteille 500 ml.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Palme (1449) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2012
0.5l bottle from Ølbutikken. My first Hill Farmsted and what a number 1 this is! It pours a amazing looking pitch black body with a massive and ever lasting almost fluffy espresso head that’s really lacing down the whole glass. Looks amazing in my Mikkeller glass.. On the aroma this is lovely roasted and hoppy, lots of subtle small chocolate - cocoa tones dancing in the background with hints of both ashes, wood, rocks and some really subtle vanilla and leather all the way in the back. Amazing! The flavor is just soo silky and smooth! Strong and roasted - more than the aroma would suggest, lots of dry espresso and cocoa powder, ashy - almost smoky tones and it’s just perfectly hopped. Feels like drinking carbonated velvet. Lingering aftertaste with coffee, chocolate, hints of lingonberries and don’t forget the lovely roasted malts. Really really tasty! 04.05.2012
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hopscotch (7542) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 15, 2012
(Rating #7500) Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. The bouquet offers cocoa intertwined with notes of pecan, maple, dry, hearty red wine and a subtle earthy component. Full-bodied and creamy with tingly carbonation. The flavor is of plush, semi-sweet, chocolate cake batter with a carbonic, bitter finish. Big-time thanks go out to landhoney for sharing this bottle of liquid luxury!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 joeneugs (1618) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bottle. It pours very dark brown with a nice tan head that settles to a thick half inch layer. The aroma is at first piney with hints of citrus hoppiness backed by a roasty toasty malt character. Some dark chocolate and nuts. The flavor is the same. Very velvety mouthfeel with potent earthy piney hops and rich dark malts. The roasted malt takes center stage in the finish with some coffee and tobacco smoke, supported nicely by piney hops again. Full bodied and very enjoyable.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 8, 2012
Bottle via a trade. Pours with a pitch black hue (no light can escape) with a massive, deep khaki brown head that lasts and leaves good lace. Aromas are very nice, roasty, deep chocolate, tobacco, vinous, deep coffee notes, dark fruits, light currant and a light hoppy character. Flavors are coffee, rich and deep, mocha, mild dark fruits, very nice, complex and rounded chocolate notes, a bready malt character. Very long duration, rich malt and lots of coffee. Full bodied, medium rich. Medium carbonation, no signs of alcohol. Very impressive.
An incredibly complex and tasty beer. I cannot imagine a better porter at that abv. Absolutely nailed it.
