Everett (1908-1939) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Porter is crafted from American malted barley, English and German roasted malts, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Decadent in its depth, with a complex backbone of chocolate, coffee, and malty sweetness, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Everett. 7.5% ALC/VOL 21º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Huge thanks to Eric (Holland) for giving me this as an extra(!!). 500 ml bottle served in a CBS snifter. A: Pours a solid black color with a brown head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin cap and collar that leaves some nice sticky, soapy lace down the glass. S: Roasted malts and coffee beans up front. Some light bakers chocolate and some toffee. T: The taste is transcendent. Milk chocolate, nice roasted malts and some chocolate covered espresso beans all fill my mouth and run across my taste buds. Delicious vanilla sweetness with a light toffee richness to it. The finish is a little bitter bakers chocolate, a hint of burnt sugar and some light molasses as well. M: Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. Medium low carbonation with a nice combination of roast and sweet notes on the finish with just a hint of dryness. The drinkability is off the charts. O: This is an incredibly decadent treat. Rich and creamy with great notes of roast, chocolate and espresso. This is the best porter money can buy. I will be seeking this out again, and very soon. Bottle at McGillicuddy’s. Dated 09/07/2015. This was poured into a tulip, eh, oh well, next time mug, nonic or pint glass. No worries, I know Sean Hill is anal about stupid shit he doesn’t know, eh, whatever. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light lacing surrounded the glass, thick yet not too thick as it showed enough spliced delicate thin-ness to it (adequate). The smell started off with sweet to robust and roasty coffee and cocoa moving slowly into a real nice malty aroma. The taste rolled into the sweetness nicely with a fairly sweet to roasty with a tad of bitter coffee blending nicely. There’s a nice semi-sweet to roasty aftertaste bleeding into a semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fairly nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nicely underneath fulfilling a fairly light quality but not too light. Overall, as an American Porter, it works. Its nice and definitely one to have this time of the year.

Poured into a snifter at home. Black liquid with a tan one finger head. Some lace. The aroma is big chocolate, coffee, anise, vanilla, and roasted malts. The tastes are the same as the aromas which is big coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and anise. Slight dry finish with a burnt malts aftertaste. Moderate to fuller body, creamy, and satisfying. Solid porter!

Runder, dunkel malziger Antrunk. Nicht sonderlich intensiv, würzig, etwas schwach. Okay. 12/9/9/9/12/9

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black with a creamy tan head. Aroma has tons of burnt toast, chocolate, coffee. A little more burnt bitterness in the flavor. Definitely the best non-BA porter I’ve had! Thanks Dennis.

Looks thick as it pours. Dark brown, with an intense brown-read head. The aroma is really great. Coffee, molasses, chocolate, fresh soil. Taste is moderately sweet and a tad bitter. A very well-crafted porter.
