COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Farmstead wheat ale aged in oak barrels with satsuma mandarins. Flora is the wine barrel aged version of Florence (1915-1967), our grandfather’s sister as well as the name of our wheat farmhouse ale. In her honor, amidst the fleeting days of summer, we chose to fill French oak wine barrels with Florence and store it away. After many months, a Biere de Table emerged. At the end of a summer day, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

Bottle: The aroma consists of heavy citrus/orange, light sweet tarts, faint lemon, and a hint of cotton candy. It pours a hazy dull yellow with the small white head that quickly fades to a very fine ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus/orange. The finish has moderate sour lemon and light sweet tarts. It’s light bodied with light carbonation.

Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to our ever dependable LKS for this one. Hazy pale gold beer, residual white head. Palate is very light and crisp. Light lemony sourness, touch of floralness. Very light mandarin. Light sherbet before the light finish. Nice.

Bottle at the Black (IPA) Friday tasting, big thanks as always to Leighton, 09/05/14. Hazed orange with little in the way of a head. Nose is bitter orange, straw, mandarin, tangerine, light spice. Taste comprises tarte orange, tangerine, spice, grass, light herbal notes, orange pithdom, light yeast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying grass laced close. Super solid saison, lots of flavour for 5% ABV, crisp and clean, super drinkable.

Bottle @ Chez Bruce. Hazy gold, tight white head. Very musty. Plenty of mandarin orange and lemon peel. Cotton candy. Countryside summery yeast. Woody. Taste is very tart. American saison sourness. Bugs, lactic funk. Citrus, peach skin. Light body, soft carbonation. Yeasty, ok.

Leighton (10483) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2014
Bottle shared in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear, pale yellow with a creamy, white head. Super clean aroma, nice lemony citrus, a bit of hay, light floral notes. Light sweet flavor with lightly juicy lemon, mild acidity, slight bitter hay, a bit of jammy mandarin orange. Light bodied with average carbonation and airy mouthfeel. Nicely drying on the finish, good moderately tart lemons, slight bitter straw. Well balanced, refreshing. Very clean. Delightful beer.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours hazy pale gold with a tiny white head. The nose is fresh, juicy, orange, sherbet, marmalade, mandarin, and some fruity tang. The taste is crisp, light tartness, sherbet, orange peel, mandarin, floral, some acidity and decent crispness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Crisp, dry and quaffable.

375 ml bottle. Hazy gold color with lasting head in a tulip. Aroma is light tangerine, grass, hints of oak, white grapes and lactic acid.

Flavor is spot on the aroma. Very bright with a dry texture. Earthy hints with the oak, over top the tangerine, oranges, white grapes, and light tart funk. Body has a grainy texture and wonderfully tart. Awesome effervescent mouthfeel.

Review is of a fresh bottle, shortly after release with double damon. Thanks Starr! Side by side w b5 Flora. Pours a lightly hazed straw golden color with a wispy white head. Doughy malt nose and citrus juice; flavor is more acidic than fresh Flora and not as bright. Bottles drink much better with some age, developed a little more tartness and dough flavor has dropped out.

Bottle courtesy of Pete and Mary Lou- pours hazy pale lemon, bright white brief head. Nose of perfection. Tannic grape mustiness, lemon, saison yeast and some oak. So appetizing. On the palate, light with some tannic acidity, quite drying almost like a good sour. Definite citrus notes along with the traditional oak aged saison hill farmstead is known for. A beer to strive for. At 5%, can I have it all day? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tannic, light and clean, slightly doughy saison. Easy to drink, but a bit one-note in comparison to the really fascinating blend of citrus flavors and light herbal notes in Soigne. Really a very good beer, but no Brother Soigne.
