Farmstead wheat ale aged in oak barrels with satsuma mandarins. Flora is the wine barrel aged version of Florence (1915-1967), our grandfather’s sister as well as the name of our wheat farmhouse ale. In her honor, amidst the fleeting days of summer, we chose to fill French oak wine barrels with Florence and store it away. After many months, a Biere de Table emerged. At the end of a summer day, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

My Bottom Line:
Dry as the desert, this citrusy and tart Saison evokes summer-y flavorscapes amongst the gentle prickling of natural carbonation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam clings to the sides of the glass around the misty pale gold.
-The nose is not as complex as their Arthur’s, or many of their other Saisons for that matter.
-A touch of wood adds depth.
-Brettanomyces flavors are well leveled with the rest of the brew’s talkative profile.
-Salt crackers are perceived in the aroma.

The beer is clear and pale yellow with a soft white head. The aroma offers lemons, funk, oranges, tangerines, floral notes, oak, white wine. The flavor is beautifully balanced. What an elegant beer. Simply terrific. Sweet, fresh oranges complimented by delicate tartness and light funk. So smooth and easy to drink. A fantastic beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear pale gold pour with no head. Aroma is quite fruity, nice light citrus aroma, fruit salad, sour wheat notes, tons of white wine, oaky. Taste is tart with a mild fruity sweetness, light orange-ish flavors, again quite reminiscent of white wine. Palate is dry, light carbonation. Very easy drinking.

Bottle shared by Arin! Hazy golden pour with a frothy white head. Fruity citrus aroma, a lot of orange coming through, wood, yeasty vibrance and oak. Bright refreshing flavor of mandarin oranges, lemons, yeast, oak, yeast funkiness and hay. Light, refreshing and delicious.

Bottle shared thanks to Arin! Pours a hazy pale yellow with no real head or lace. Aroma of sweet maple, hint of wood, orange, and slight sour. Taste is way more sour with lots of tart orange. Amazing! Hardly a saison, but very nice.

Wow!!!!! Amazing orangy flavor really makes the flora just take off, indescribable, the funk and bugs perfectly blend with the fruit to make essentially the perfect beer

Bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead wine stem. Pour: Crystal clear pale straw body with two fingers of frothy white head. Great effervescence. The head recedes to a rim, and leaves beautiful, light lacing. Smell: Bright, juicy tangerines, lemon, and zesty oranges. A clean white wine vinousness. Some musty funk, and a touch of oak. Wow. Taste: Acidic and tart tangerine and lemon up front, and that mellows out seamlessly into white wine and smooth oak. Beautiful funk midpalate. Some citrus zest. Through the finish, lightly acidic and tart tangerines, lingering white wine, and drying oak. Mouthfeel: Perfectly carbed. The mandarins added a lovely acidity to play off of Flora’s typical tartness. Refreshing, and supremely drinkable. Flavors linger long enough that this is able to be savored for quite a while. Overall: What can I say… I thought Flora was near perfection, and this bettered it. Well done Shaun, this is a work of brewing art.

Hazy blonde pour with a small head. Barnyard funk, brett, yeast, citrus zest aroma. A lot going on here, lighter citrus fruit, rinds, barnyard funk, musty, oak, white grape. The mandarins are more noticeable while im drinking this. Quite tart. Lighter body, medium carbonation. With every drink i notice something new.
