COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you AdamJackson. Pours very hazy vibrant yellow with a frothy and fluffy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small soapy trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sour, slightly fruity and slightly funky with wheat crackers, pink grapefruit juice, lemon juice, hay, dry soil, lemony yoghurt, pineapple, passionfruit, lemongrass, starfruit, barnyard and white grape juice. Taste is sour, tiny fruity and funky with crackers, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, sour milk, wood, dry soil, hay, pineapple, passionfruit, barnyard, white grapes, lemon zest and hints of mineral rich well water. Mouthfeel is soft, dry, tart and light bodied. Finish is sour and slightly funky with crackers, lemon juice, hay, dry soil, sour milk, barnyard and wood. Incredibly refreshing!

Bottle shared by AdamJackson - thanks!!! Pours cloudy pale yellow with a small white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is citric, floral, wheat, a touch of funk, lemon zest. Flavor is light sweet to start, transitioning to medium tartness, zesty with a bit of funk going on as well. Lemon peel. Fruity and aromatic almost perfumy floral body. Light body, medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Highly drinkable. I would love to have this as my regular table beer.

Pours a light golden with a really thin white head that leaves only the smallest lacing. Nose is floral and perfumey, really nice. Taste is tart and carries flavors of citrus and various tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is juicy, carbonation really high. This is highly quaffable and really refreshing. Really nice!

Poured from bottle into tupip: Pours lemonade yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, funk, grass, and wheat. Taste is a refreshingly smooth wheat base, lots of lemon, and a well balanced Belgian yeast funk. So easy to drink, light body but lots of flavor. Tasty saison.

Bottle shared by Anthony during the muff tasting. Thanks bro! This is getting redundant, I know, but this man knows what he is doing. This one is a bit on the lemony side of things—perhaps from the wheat addition. I dunno, but its good saison.

2013 bottle at Farmhouse Tap and Grill, 2/7/14
Deep copper-amber hued body is topped by a small white head that shows moderate retention. High clarity, thankfully the bartender poured very, very slowly and carefully (I get nervous as hell when others pour bottles for me).
Very spicy in the nose both in part from the yeast phenols and the hops. Dry, cut grass leads to a more lemon-orange citrus, with a touch of vanilla-cream from the wheat and pale malts. Really like the dry white pepper phenol character that builds up as it warms. No alcohol or flaws in the nose.
Supple texture is provided by the wheat and creamy, tight carbonation. Tons of spiciness from the yeast, maybe an ever so slight touch of tartness and a lightly bitter lime-like note from the hops keep everything quite dry. Still, the malt is well-extracted and attenuated and everything is nicely balanced. Great by-the-books saison.

Bottle I popped open during the post-grand tasting muff party at RBWG. Pale cloudy yellow pour. Nose has plenty of lemon rind and wheat. Clean flavor profile with lemon and wheat goodness. Lingering lemon tartness. Very tasty. The whole is even better than the sum of its parts.

Pour is a pale hazed straw yellow with a white head. The nose has lots of yeast, a little messy yeast, peppery, fairly strong dusty note, Lots of lemon in back. Taste isn’t as bright, lemon really fades out. A bit of messy yeast, light Saison notes, fairly dusty. Strong carbonation, lighter body, a bit uneven on palate. Lemon and grassy hay like hops through the finish.

Bottle pour cloudy light yellow. Nose Belgian ester, light spice and fruit. Taste slight tart up front, then mild spice and fruit. Tart finish. All in all well balanced but on the subtle side.
