Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Bottle thanks to Rob for the trade. Shared with Smelliot, Jackson and Adza. Pours like blended lemons with a thick white head which lasts the duration. Nose is lemon curd central - massive lemon and zest with a moderate sourness with plenty of brett focus to it. Taste is very lemon curd driven, clean and refreshing, very bretty and zesty. My first impression was overly zest driven but as my palate gets used to it, the brett starts to drive the beer. Summer in a glass. Very good

Draft at Khyber Pass. Very hazy yellow gold that started with some fizzy white foam that largely disappeared. Lots of pleasant lemon juice, pith and zest. More sour than expected but not over the top. Nicely juicy. Mild toasted wheat beer flavors in the background. Only a touch of farmhouse funk. Largely a big full citrus, mostly lemon, glass of goodness!

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2014 Obtained in a trade. Thx! 750 ml. bottle split by 4 @ “The Tasting formerly known as Mons RBBAG I (2014)”. Bottled on 07/2014. Hazy citrus with no head. Nose is citrus, lightly tart, brett, sour bacteria, very HF, unique mix. but not best possible one. Taste is straightforward, lightly sour, tart citrus, tad lactic sorbet, wheat, lemon drops, brett, strong wheat presence,… Low carbonation & very easy to drink. Quite lovely but overrated all the same as usual.

750ml bottle. Hazy golden with a one-finger white head. Funky Belgian wheat aroma, slight citrus. The flavor is nice and wheaty with lemon and funk. Mildly tart. Fairly full carbonation with medium body. Good beer, as expected!

This poured a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma was of light lemon acid, wheat, earth, and sand. Flavor was lightly spicy, Belgian whit character, some wet rocks and light ability. Pretty solid.

Side by side tasting of bottled Anna, Florence & Arthur at BBF’14. Props to Mike Morse. Thank you! ANNA: plays on the light floral notes, but especially on the spicy and yeast compared to the other two. 4.1/5 FLORENCE: more zesty lemon with a drier body and a great dry finish, a real thirst quencher. 3.8/5 ARTHUR: fruitiest of the 3, with nice balanced pineapple notes and a tad of the yeasty saison chareter. 4.1/5

750 ml bottle purchase at the brewery on August 21, 2014. Hazy yellow, small head. Sour wheat aroma, with notes of lemon and light herbs. Sour lemon and herb taste, notes of apple juice, sour dryness. It taste like summer in Vermont!
