COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Bottle thanks to beerdweeb. Pours with a hazy yellow hued body with a retentive white head and great lace. Aromas are funky and floral phenolics, dry apple and pear esters, spicy, herbal. Restrained and elegant. Medium malt character. Flavors are lively and tart on the palate. Hugely lemony, spicy, phenolics. Dry, sour and herbal. Lively carbonation, medium acidity. Hugely drinkable.

Thanks to the kind soul who brought this to RBWG. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is floral hops, light wheat, some lemon, citrus, and light fruit. Flavor is similar- floral character, some yeast, some lemon, citrus, and light fruit. Very nice, light beer. Would drink a lot if given the chance.

beer geek summer Saison is what it should be called. Drier and funkier than a wit, but not a Saison. Very clean dry and funky, but a funky wit. Excellent.

Standard white ale here, is isn’t overloaded with spices and orange so it is subtler but not outstanding.

750 ml. Thanks to Andrew. Hazed yellow white with a thin head. Lemon funk aroma a strong earthiness and a touch of dough. Thin body but strong flavors. So much clean lemon. Thin finish. Good stuff. 8/4/7/4/16

750 ml bottle shared by Drew. Thanks, dude. Pours a nicely yellow straw hue, healthy glow, brighter white head that rings and laces ok. A lively carbonation, gold glow. Aromas are funk, some pineapple, and straw. A bit funky with some apple, gentle pear. Bready malts, some dough, lively yeast, gentle orange and coriander waft in at out but get covered up a bit. Firmer funk grows, good fruit element as it cuts through the funk. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a bit fuzzy carbonation, dryness up front. Mellow yet slowly growing funk is a bit dry, bretty and straw. Grassy, earthy. Middle shows some fruity sweetness, touches of apple and pear, mellow dough and bready malts. A bit lotion-y and herbal into the back, that telltale yeast element for Hill Farmstead, dry, bretty, and earthy. Melds well the the fruity middle. A touch of spice to finish up, coriander and something else, gentle sweetness melds into straw, earth, and gentle funk. Well constructed, goes through the experience and whole process well. A mellow dryness, faint bitterness and spice back there. Gentle yet well made, the Wit base really comes through as we get into it and is done well by the Hill Famrstead yeast.. Getting firmly tart into the middle and backend as I settle firmly into this beer. A nice pleasant tartness. A touch more hop on the backend could push this a bit more for me. Nice.

A nicely carbonated beverage with a bubbly foam head that dissipates. The Florence has an uplifting cloudy bright yellow look to it. The scent has yeast, citrus lemon, lite hops, and grains. As for taste I noticed wheat, lite lemon, lite pineapple, a slight sugary tart funkiness, yeast, hops, and there is a very minor spice flavor. The finish is refreshing, fruity, mildly bitter, and leaves a pleasant after taste. Overall Florence is a good beverage and worth trying.
