COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Bottle from gnosis.. thanks.. Bottle back to back with Arthur.. Pour is paler yellow with same 3 finger head. A bit clearer than the Arthur. Lemon, pepper, cloves, sage on the nose..a bit more herbal and lighter smelling. Wow.. buckwheat, honey, citrus, mint. More carbonated and less tart than the Arthur. Same creamy feel but slightly crisper. Prefer the Arthur’s tartness but the Florence nose.

Bottle into a wineglass showing unfiltered dark apricot orange with half a finger of quickly dissipating foam. The nose shows light but apparent notes of apricot, citric orange zest, brett, and subtle malts with an ever present tartness. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Clean flavors of light peach and apricot with a mild tartness. A background similar to a white wine barrel aged beer seems to permeate the beer but without the awkward bitterness. Clean fruit notes through to the finish and the linger. Practically no bitterness. Entirety of the beer comes together very well.

Bottle shared with Gus on Fuck It Sunday. Aroma is funky, dry, barnyard, banana, wheat, dusty, good. Appearance is straw golden, white head, hazy. Taste is tart, brett, tropical fruit, banana, dry, barnyard, funk, real nice. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, dry, tart barnyard aftertaste. Overall, not as good as Dorothy but still quite solid.

(On tap @ Warpigs HF Day, Copenhagen, May 12 2016) Pours hazy medium gold with a white head. Aroma of lemon zest, orange flesh, floral and a touch grassy hop profile, light grainy wheat and bread notes, a touch of Brett. Flavour is semi-dry and fairly crisp, green apple, slightly tart citrus, floral, dry grass, light to moderate wheat graininess, peppery notes in the dry, subtly tart back end. A touch mineral. Medium bodied, soft carb, refreshing. Very nice saison, probably not flattered by its excellent HF company but refreshing and highly drinkable.
