Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

(Growler) Pours a hazy yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of lemon peel, grass, herbs, and florals. Flavor of herbs, grass, lemon, florals, yeast, pear, and biscuit with a dry, bitter finish.

75cl, thanks nimbleprop. Lightly hazed straw body atop large white head. Aroma is medium sweet, straw, yeasty, light lemon peel. Taste is medium sweet, orange, straw, some yeast/spicy. Light-medium body, some effervescence.

Growler thanks to GT. Cloudy pale straw pour with a white head. Lemony aroma, some white pepper, coriander, and orange. Doughy malt, biscuit, and cracker. Notes of pear and banana, too. Maybe a bit of sulfur? Kind of pedestrian. Flavors of lemon and orange peel, pepper, coriander, and pear. Has more of a witbier character than saison. Dough, biscuit, and cracker malt notes. Just okay.

Growler at the Funky 6. Pours cloudy gold with a moderate, white head. Lemon zest aroma with notes of Belgian yeast and bready malts. Nice citrus, bread and honey sweetness, with some light earthy bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Dry finish, with further lemon and cereal. Very nice.

750 ml bottle poured a clear yellow with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of white wine, citrus, straw, pear, light tropical fruitr and light oak. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of white wine, oak, straw, citrus, pear and spice with a smooth dry lingering citrus finish.

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is biscuit and honey malt, pear and apple, straw notes, earthy and spicy hops with farmhouse yeast notes. Flavor is spices, light malt, hops and bitterness with farmhouse yeast and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle @ Scott’s Summer Saison tasting. Thanks so much Scott! I think this was courtesy of knownfactor on BA. Thanks! Fairly clear, golden appearance with an off white head. Very floral, spicy earthy, tangy fruity, dry, citrusy aroma. Tangy fruity, pear, lemon citrusy, super floral, lightly tart flavor. I enjoyed Flora quite a bit more but this was fun to drink.

Clear gold pour, white head. Crisp aroma, guava, saison yeast, wheat, soft spice notes. Flavor is a wonderful mix of saison notes and wheat. Lightly herbaceous hops, orange peel, wow. Just wow.

Bottle (Dregs)... RBWG 2013… Pours murky and nearly white with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. Herbs, flora and bread dough construct this beer’s bouquet. Medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor presents an excellent balance of malt, hops and acidity, but it’s quite restrained. Finishes tangy and a touch dry. Too phenolic for my liking.

750mL flip-top growler 2-Day aired to me thanks to jbeatty. Pours a full haze white with hefty white foam and sharp carbonation. Nose at first is heavy phenolics, diaper and solvent. Thankfully it brushes off with some aeration and gains a bright coriander/white pepper and lemon zest along with backseated witbier esters. Taste is rich, clean, mild sweet cream butter, a Hill Farmstead house yeast byproduct, with big dough and light plastic. Palate is aerated, fluffy, quenching. But comes across more as a witbier than a saison. I guess a 3.4 is an Asian F for Hill Farmstead. Would like to try out of a bottle and re-rate.
