4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A really great beer, the coffee harmonizes well with the bourbon character and yet creates something completely different from a KBS or BCBS, has a weirdly "light" character by comparison, I don’t even know.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
500ml bottle, 2013 release, via trade. pours a deep, dark cocoa brown that sits black as onyx in the glass capped by a thick, creamy dark mocha head that leaves rich sheets of lace. aroma is absolutely wonderful with heavy notes of baker’s chocolate, cocoa powder, cold pressed coffee, and cigar ash backed by deep, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, and hints of toffee. flavor somehow manages to outshine the aroma with a seamless integration of rich, smoky, woody bourbon, tobacco, dark fruits, and vanilla with semi-sweet chocolate, roast, coconut, and hints of coffee. palate is smooth as silk with light carbonation and a lingering, dry, finish of black cherry and dark chocolate. overall, another remarkable effort from HF and a top 5 beer of the year for me.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown/black pour. Minimal head, zero lace. Smells oxidized, yet blends with bourbon and roasty malts to create a decent aroma.
Oaky, roasty, barrely, bourbon; finishes with a kiss of warmth. Low carb. Good stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is black with dark sepia head. Nose is light roast, faint chocolaty notes, gentle bourbon and coffee notes with a very light peat aroma. Taste is much more rich, lots of cake and bourbon, some wood with very light coffee. Subtle malt sweetness, assertive carbonation with a relatively full body and creamy feel.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at my grandparents. Pour is pitch black with a frothy brown head and good lacing. Big leather, coffee, cocoa, roasty, anise, earthy, bourbon, figs, brown sugar, and raisins in the aroma. Taste is roasted cocoa, espresso, wood, light vanilla, bourbon, figs, plums, leather, and caramel with a toasted bitter finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Decadent and delicious coffee stout.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours tar black with a small, creamy, beige head that slowly recedes to form a tight, stubborn cap. The bouquet boasts charcoal and black chocolate with undercurrents of vanilla and pouch tobacco. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with jazzy carbonation. The flavor is mildly boozy, acrid, carbonic and bittersweet. Scorched chocolate finish. Kudos to ctipping for sharing this world class effort!
