yourefragile (105) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 13, 2013
On tap at the HF Anniversary Party 2011. Pours a syrupy, viscous black with a surprisingly large dark tan head. Aroma is decadent blend of roasted malt, rye spice, milk chocolate and ground coffee. Flavor is initially caramel malt and coffee roast before finishing with silky sweet chocolate, mild hop bitterness and spiciness peeking through from the rye. Thick, chewy, oily and silky; perfect coating mouthfeel. Trace amounts of alcohol. The rye and coffee combination push this from good to great and make it standout from other stouts. Overall, excellent balance, persistent flavor in the finish and surprising amounts of nuance make this an exceptional imperial stout.

fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - JUL 2, 2012
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Black color, with brown head, persistent. Aroma of roasted malt, pot coffee, light pepper. Too high carbonation, that provides some smoothness, but overall spoils the mouthfeel; good dark chocolate flavor, enough sweetness to make it pleasant, it has a mild spicy and sour character, a touch of liquorice and coffee, and a pungent final. Good, but not cohesive.

Sampled at the anniversary party on draft. Aroma is rich roasty, nutty, and slightly fruity with a strong coffee backbone. The taste is very reminiscent of Mikkeller Brunch Weasel. Strong coffee and complex flavorful malts make this a masterpiece. Great job again!

On tap at Mikkeller Bar Pours dark with medium thick coffee brown head. Really good looking. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, raisins... Almost port wine like... Good damn! This was great! Creamy and sweet palate. You have the sweetness all around and also the medium coffee bitterness in the ending. Masterpiece!

Draught at Mikkeller Bar. Pitch black with a dark foamy cappuccino head. Deep aromas of coffee, dark-roasted malt and chocolate. The taste is dominated by the roasted malts, bitter-sweet with notes of dark fruit and chocolate. Creamy velvet texture, hard roasted chocolate-bitter finish, full body, smooth.

(Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 18 Feb 2012) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with black coffee, milky chocolate aromas and a touch of oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with lots of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, hints of oak wood and a generous cocoa bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a dense, rounded mouthfeel. A touch of sweetness shines through. Lovely beer with generous amounts of chocolate and coffee.
