3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A big syrupy and very hoppy imperial Stout. Very good
How: Tap at the brewery
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is moderately roasted, hops resin and burnt chocolate cake. Taste starts very sweet with lots molasses backed by some black chocolate, some raisins and light notes of coffee. A generous amount or resinous hops saves the beer from being just another cloying big impy stout. Overall the beer feels quite syrupy and not all that roasted. A very corpulent beer with a thick full oily mouthfeel. Almost no alcohol presence whatsoever. If the syrupy molasses flavor wasn’t so upfront this would be a world-class imperial stout. Very good beer. And while on the Genealogy subject, I don’t mean to brag but my genealogy tree is actually quite impressive, for over 4 billion years each and every of my ancestor was attractive enough to find a partner to mate.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Mikkeller.
Black with a small dark brown head.
Lots of roast and coffee in the aroma. A bit faint, did I have a runny nose at the time?
Taste is great with sweetness, dark chocolate, lots of raisin, roasted malt, vinous notes and slight alcohol at the end.
Smooth mouth feel, full bodied and low to medium carbonation.
Smooth and bitter chocolatey after taste.
A very well balanced Imperial Stout, my first offering from HF and lot the last.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
(on tap @ Mikkeller & Friends) Pours black with little, tan head. Decent retention and good lace. Aroma is a well balanced coffee with subtle hints of what resembles oak. Alcohol is well masked. Oily texture, full body without being too filling, soft carbonation and a lingering, dark and slightly sweet coffee finish. Flavour is somewhat remniscient of dark chocolate but without much bitterness. Very smooth and balanced in it's expression with easy drinkability, which is rare for the style. Girlfriend says: "It's really good!"

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the HF Anniversary Party 2011.
Pours a syrupy, viscous black with a surprisingly large dark tan head. Aroma is decadent blend of roasted malt, rye spice, milk chocolate and ground coffee. Flavor is initially caramel malt and coffee roast before finishing with silky sweet chocolate, mild hop bitterness and spiciness peeking through from the rye. Thick, chewy, oily and silky; perfect coating mouthfeel. Trace amounts of alcohol. The rye and coffee combination push this from good to great and make it standout from other stouts. Overall, excellent balance, persistent flavor in the finish and surprising amounts of nuance make this an exceptional imperial stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Black color, with brown head, persistent. Aroma of roasted malt, pot coffee, light pepper. Too high carbonation, that provides some smoothness, but overall spoils the mouthfeel; good dark chocolate flavor, enough sweetness to make it pleasant, it has a mild spicy and sour character, a touch of liquorice and coffee, and a pungent final. Good, but not cohesive.
