750ml swing-top growler shared with blankboy and GregClow, via JerCraigs. Light hazy yellow-gold with a large rocky white head. Dry, zesty, mildly fruity aroma, a bit of alcohol (almost 8). Taste - more APA, but wonderful - mid-level light grain, floral bitterness, solid overripe fruit, alcohol - building bitterness, a little oniony. Body on the light side, astringent, moderately carbonated, longish bitter finish that doesn’t quite hit "wow" levels - damned drinkable.

Tap. Prohibition Pig, Waterbury, VT. Hazy gold. Thick, white head. Sweet, biscuit malts. Blackcurrant hop. Soft, herbal notes. Chewy sweet juiciness. Taste is clean, juicy bitter. Smooth, clean mouthfeel. Moderately bitter finish.

Pours hazy light orange with a two finger white head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of fresh citrus, tropical fruits, pine, dank hops, melon, strawberries, fresh cut grass, herbal notes, and light bready malts. Taste is freshly squeezed citrus, pine, juicy tropical fruits (mango, pineapple, and kiwi), strawberries, grassy hops, melon, and light bready malts. Has a medium body with a super cream mouthfeel and a semi dry, moderately bitter, long, lingering finish. Overall, a fantastic, worldclass IPA that only reaffirms my believe that Hill Farmstead is indeed the best brewery in the world.

Draft (Tria Taproom, Philly). Head is initially average sized, creamy/frothy, white, fully lasting (looks like nitro). Body is cloudy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (kiwi, melon, flowers, green banana). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Pretty nice hop nose on this, very tropical fruity if a bit candyish (Now & Later, for example). Nice appearance too but fairly sour (fruit juice sour) and watery, so not as much fun to actually drink. Ok overall.

Growler bought at the brewery on Friday and consumed today after being stored in a suboptimal manner (no fridge) for almost 24 hours. Pours a super hazy golden with a medium white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of dank hops, slight onion/garlic, pine with some tropical angles. Taste is moderately sweet and promptly bitter, incredibly balanced and never cloying or harsh. Flavors of dank hops, mangoes. Body is medium and carbonation moderately high. Lightly sticky with a lingering bitter finish that is never too much and just reminding you that you’re drinking a world class IPA. Awesome, really, I kind of forgot about it since there is always something else that is as good or better on tap at HFS but this is really one of the best american neo-IPAs out there for sure!

750 mL growler. Originally reviewed 5/11/2013. Nice white head with decent retention and nice lacing. Golden yellow body that’s a little hazy. Smell has lots of grapefruit and grassy hops. All hops. Pungent and a little bit of onion to it. Taste is very hoppy. Bright citrus with a touch of sweetness right up front before becoming more grassy than the nose. Not much malt. Low bitterness, but there’s almost no sweetness to it from the malt at all so it lingers. Clean and easy to drink. Light to medium body with a dose of bitterness at the end. I had a small pour of this and wasn’t enthused. Split a growler with someone and now I really like it.

Pours a very hazy, dark golden yellow color with lemon yellow edges and a frothy two finger white head. Excellent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap/ring. Large streaks and chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Earthy floral hop aroma with oily resins and dank, juicy buds. There’s also some pine needle and spruce tip countered by faint citrus and a decent pale malt backbone. Very floral bouquet with some earthy resins, slight light fruit notes, bread, biscuit and cracker. Full bodied with a slight creamy texture and a blast of dank, juicy hops that provides lingering dry, sticky bitterness. Floral, grassy and spicy hops along with earthy pine needle, spruce tip and tropical fruit notes followed by bready yeast, biscuit and graham cracker. Really well balanced and easy to drink with great hop flavor. Another impressive IPA from HF.

Draft at Black Back Pub. Pours a mostly clear light golden color with an off white head. Aroma is a complex hop profile, piney, fruity, spicy, delicious. Flavor is mildly bitter, with a nice piney, grassy hop character. Very nice.

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is big zesty tropical citrus, light cream. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a big fresh citrus, light yeast, big woody hop bitter palate and a frothy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish.
