Bottle. Pours pith black with a long lasting, fluffy brown head. Aroma has lots of different notes: sweet citrus or orange notes, a minty dryness, chocolate, some caramel and a good amount of roasted malts. Taste has even more of this orange flavor, that works great with the prominent dark chocolate notes. Has something almost crispy to the taste’s dryness. Overall lots of different orange notes is what makes this beer interesting. It has a full body with a medium to medium-low carbonation. Exciting and handsome looking beer!

375 ml. bottle procured @ De Hopduvel. Shared with Kraddel. Looking back at notes the regular version had very little in the way of citrus which is why I supposed that they BA it on Orange Liqueur Barrel & seemingly discontinued the old version. Yet still there is little citrus going on here…. // Pours a pitch-black with a small, lovely beige head. // Nose is lovely thick roast with lots of coffee, roast, faint charcoal wood, warming liqueur, very nicely integrated, great balance. // Taste is slick roasted mocha, lots of coffee, roast, I can pick up some citrus peel but only if I try, light liquorish, melted chocolate. // Finish carries a lovely warming, high quality liqueur alcohol to it, really opens up once warmed up. // Body substantial but this feel more like a regular stout than an imperial one, this really should be way thicker. // Overall this is a very nice beer but it still feels like it could have & should have been so much more, thicker & more citrus, way more etc. Still delicious.

Pours pitch black with a nice creamy brown head. Aroma of orange crunchy chocolate, weak vanilla, some wood, roasted coffee and weak orange peel. Taste is just like dark chocolate with orange flavor. Also some wooden notes, roasted notes and you can feel the orange peel which gives it a little twist.

Bottle at Mikkeller & Friends, july 26th 2014. Black body with a vanishing light brown head. Roasty aroma, heavy lemon/orange notes, vanilla, wood, taste of dark chocolate, orange, vanilla and strong coffee. Thick body with a warm finish of orange chocolate. Very nice!

12.7 oz bottle. Dark brown with tan foam. Nose is dusty cocoa, wood and orange peel. Thick and creamy with a lovely citric tang. Like hot chocolate with a zest dusting. Tastes almost exactly like the dark chocolate orange peels my wife loves. Rich veins of caramel, vanilla and coffee take this to another level.

This is just kinda there, as RIS goes. Hints of sweet oranges on the front, but a pretty roasty bitter finish, almost acrid, keeps the beer from really being what it should be. I dunno, I expected a much more powerful blast of citrus than I got and the bitterness is offputting.
