375ml bottle @ home. Pours black with a medium beige head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is oranges, caramel, alcohol, coffee and roasted malt. Flavour is pretty much the same. Well balanced and the alcohol is hidden nicely. Finish is smooth and roasted malt. I’m glad I’ve got one more bottle.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s mid-week lasting 03/07/14. Opaque black / caamel coloured pour with a loose tan head. Very oily viscoud pour. Aroma is composed of orange, booze, caramel, sweet milky lactose sugars. Flavour is caramel, milk choc, orangey booxe, choc orange. Very complex flavour that meld pretty well. Palate is full bodied, spicy tangerine. Lingering fruity orange. Very good.

Coal black color with a mahogany colored head, revealing a small, dark brown head, with a dense coating. Lots of barrel character with fruity, flowery hints to it, revealing a boozy bite and orange peel, among spicy notes with bitter chocolate. Also has a walnut qualtiy, which gets almost hidden underneath the present alcoholic features, smoothed by fudge and mocha. Starts with cane sugar, toffee, and a stong earth note. Accompanied by almost fermented, caramelized orange, which still contains some fruit acidity, gently transformed into an alcoholic barrel defined warmth with a lovely bite, and a present oak character. Very smooth to drink, this is on the sweeter side, without becoming too sugary, while finishing with a nice fruit complexity and earthy, bready malts.

Bottle, thanks Luk_. Black pour. Aroma of dark chocolate, chocolate orange, slightly boozy, tons of chocolate, liqueur. Taste of dark chocolate, really roasty, not very sweet at all just a nice citrusy fruity component but otherwise pretty dry. Palate is med-full bodied, nice warming alcohol , stays really easy drinking. Nice RIS.

375 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. The aroma has roasted malt, chocolate, coffee wood with decent orange citrus character. The flavor has much of the same; roasted malt, coffee, chocolate wood and orange citrus. I am usually not a fan of citrus with imperial stouts, but this works pretty well in this beer. Moderate bitterness at the finish. I have the base rated just a touch higher than this, but this is another solid beer from HF.

Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. Only some faint citrus characteristics and some generic fruitiness. I wouldn’t have guessed it was brewed with oranges or even that it was barrel aged. Not bad in any way but felt more like a generic imperial stout.

Bottled. Thanks veliemboys. Pours a black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, strong sweet orange and licorice. Rich flavour of roasted malts, orange marmalade, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel sweetness and heavy salty licorice notes. Full bodied and oily mouthfeel. Heavy and a brilliant dessert.

375 ml bottle. Bottled on 01/2014.
Pours black color with a small beige head. Vanilla and cocoa on the nose, oak, orange, malts and slight alcohol. Dry ashy chocolate on the flavor, faint coffee and cocoa, mild orange and caramel. Seems very balance despite the gimmick-y promise/warning. Very tasty.

37,5 cl bottle @ home, bottled 01/2014
Aroma is somewhat stale with sweet fruit marmalade notes, roastiness and hay. Flavour has sweet fruit marmalade, some ash, tobacco, roasted tones and some salty licorice. Dry and ashy but nice still.

375ml bottle from Mikkeller & Friends Bottleshop, Copenhagen

Bottled 01/2014 - Pours pitch black with a small bubbly head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, citrus, hints of marmalade and toffee. Taste is smooth, roasty and balanced with slight notes of citrus, marmalade and juicy toffee notes. Finish is smooth, silky and slightly roasty with some hints of licorice, citrus and marmalade. Quite nicely balanced and tasty imperial stout.
