Swingtop HF growler. Pours a slighlty hazed orange color with a nice fluffy white head. Good lacing as the head settles. The aroma includes notes of orange rind, apricot, and some slight florals. Juice, sweet, and citrus notes end with a nice lingering bitterness to this beer. Medium mouthfeel. Very nice.

750ml growler with a healthy pour into the HF stemware. Growler didn’t pop off as crazy as some, but this beer remained very well carbonated. Pours hazy orange color with a massive soapy white head forming on top that continued to grow. Awesome fluffy cloud that took some time to settle down. Aromas of grapefruit, some orange skins, toasted malts, a little crackery, some earthy floral notes in there as well, nothing seems to jump out at you aside from the grapefruit. First few sips reveal what all HF beers have, that perfect light to medium body. Medium to high carbonation. Lots of juicy bitter grapefruit, more bitter fruit rind, some sweet malts, a little hay and toasted grass but not much. Great lacing all along the walls of the glass, slight legs. I am a sucker for big dry finishes in IPAs, so this was a big treat. Very crisp and refreshing. Impressive beer for displaying the complexities of one hop and one malt. Vienna malt imparts this subtle toasty flavor to the finish that works so damn well with the cascade hop kick.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2013 Swing top growler at home with my dad. Thanks Frank!! Pour is hazy orange with a fluffy white head and great lacing. Weedy, grassy, biscuity, grapefruity, somewhat citrusy, and a touch of oranges in the aroma. Taste is grassy, citrusy, light hint of wet-dog, earthy, ganja, grapefruity, and fruit peel with a medium bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Decent IPA, but not my favorite HF beer by any means.

Taster at the source and 750 to go. Poured into HF stemware pours a cloudy light orange with a healthy white fluffy head. Some lacing as it going down. Smells of orange, lemon peel, little bit of grapefruit, and hay. Taste is juicy orange, very thirst quenching, but not much bitterness. Alcohol is so well hidden, could be dangerous. Again a very nice DIPA from Mr. Hill.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold. Aroma has some perfume and lemon notes, moderate. Flavor is soft of flowers, lemon rind, and grapefruit. I brewed an IPA with only cascade hops. Why didn’t it come out like this, huh?

Thanks to some generous guys from Philly for going and getting this for me! The only S&S beer in the series I never got to try and thanks Shaun for re-brewing this! Enjoyed at fridge temp in a Cantillon tulip. Hazy / cloudy orange, 1 finger head. Champagne like bubbles. Nose is orange zest, pine cone and lemon peel. Very heavy on the citrus in taste. Earthy and resinous finish. Nice balance of carbonation and the 8% ABV is entirely hidden. Not boozy at all. A 750ML all to myself is no problem. Good work!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 yourefragile (105) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 13, 2013
750 mL growler compliments of Tucker. Served in a tulip.
Pours a cloudy straw orange color with a quickly fading cream color head fading to a thin collar slippery lacing. Hops and not much else on the nose. Orange and pine, slightly earthy and some vanilla reminiscent of Nor, but for the most part this is tropical orange and not much else. Medium thick body, soft carbonation, soft and fluffy on the palate with a slight dry, bitter finish. Flavor is vanilla and orange on the front of the palate with earthy, pine and resin hops drying out the finish. Sweet with slight spice and gentle bitterness, this is a very easy drinking IIPA; no problem enjoying a 750 of this.
edit: Ideally the flavor is a 4.25, but I’ll round up.

Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael!
The beer is straw yellow colored and hazy with a lasting white head. A wonderful hoppy aroma, like sunshine in a glass. A touch of fruit and mildly sweet. Quite tasty and drinkable. Crisp carbonation and light to medium in body. A touch of bitterness in the finish, but nothing aggressive. Another delicious beer from Hill Farmstead.

A hazed amber IPA with a thin compact creamy and lacing off white head. In aroma, a beautiful grapefruit pulp, lichees, grape skins, nice and smooth. In aroma, a smooth dry and crisp malt with nice herbal hops, a bit of acidity, but nice and smooth. On tap at Positive Pie Tap and Grill Plainfield, April 6, 2012.
