4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler from the brewery. Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. Nose of spicy pine, tangerine, hints of anise and grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with moderate, zippy melon, grapefruit, light pale malts sugars, mild alcohol boost and strawberries. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, somewhat resinous, with pine needles, melon, grapefruit and orange rind. Rindy citrus aftertaste. Very solid stuff.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
In short: An aromatic and fruity blonde IPA with focus on freshness and refreshing qualities.
How: Tap at infamous Hill Farmstead 3rd Anniversary, winter storm in May.
The look: Cloudy dark blonde-orange body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: Very aromatic nose with all kinds of fruits and floral undertones. Mouthfeel is typical HF IPA pillowy texture with plenty of soft bubbles. Taste has the typical signature HF single-hop IPAs bready/crackery smooth pale malts. Relatively low sweetness sensation for its size. Fruity hops and more fruity hops. As usual for HF IPA surprisingly, very bright and fresh sensation, a clean refreshing bitterness, nothing resinous or sticky here. I’ve had many single-hop cascade IPA and somehow I didn’t quite recognize the Cascade here, it tasted like a HF IPA, that simple. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realize that Hill Farmstead make awesome IPAs, and it just so happens that I’m not a rocket scientist.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft @ Hill Farmstead 3rd Anniversary. Light hazy orange with a huge fluffy white head and usual HF intense lacing. Aroma is intensely hoppy and of orange, lemon, pine, lichee and grapefruit. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with a lot of citrus in there, slight pine notes and a subtle but interesting herbal/floral presence. Moderate bitterness. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Alcohol is completely hidden. Very good DIPA. Intensely citrusy. Well balanced. Not too sweet. I loved it. Probably my favorite from the S&S series.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Hill 3rd Anniversary. Pours a hazy yellow orange color with a finger of bubbly foam. Great citrus, pine and lots of grassy bitterness. Great contrast from start to finish... The beginning is pure citrus, juicy mandarin that leads into a earthy grassy resinous finish.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at 3rd Anniversary Party with Alan, Bill, Joe, Evan, and Eric. Glowing murky golden pour with massive fluffed white head, good lace. Nice and hoppy... crisp orange zest, marshmallow toast malt and pine. Maybe a little hot on the mouth but still nice, lots of resin profile in this society. Interesting but Cascade isn’t my favorite hop out there.

Swingtop HF growler. Pours a slighlty hazed orange color with a nice fluffy white head. Good lacing as the head settles. The aroma includes notes of orange rind, apricot, and some slight florals. Juice, sweet, and citrus notes end with a nice lingering bitterness to this beer. Medium mouthfeel. Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml growler with a healthy pour into the HF stemware. Growler didn’t pop off as crazy as some, but this beer remained very well carbonated. Pours hazy orange color with a massive soapy white head forming on top that continued to grow. Awesome fluffy cloud that took some time to settle down. Aromas of grapefruit, some orange skins, toasted malts, a little crackery, some earthy floral notes in there as well, nothing seems to jump out at you aside from the grapefruit. First few sips reveal what all HF beers have, that perfect light to medium body. Medium to high carbonation. Lots of juicy bitter grapefruit, more bitter fruit rind, some sweet malts, a little hay and toasted grass but not much. Great lacing all along the walls of the glass, slight legs. I am a sucker for big dry finishes in IPAs, so this was a big treat. Very crisp and refreshing. Impressive beer for displaying the complexities of one hop and one malt. Vienna malt imparts this subtle toasty flavor to the finish that works so damn well with the cascade hop kick.
