4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A - Pours a murky golden-yellow color with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a full of tropical, citrus, and pine hops, with some grapefruit and pineapple, and some sweet caramel malt.
T - Starts off with some citrus and tropical hops with lots of grapefruit and pineapple flavor with some bitterness and a bit of sweet caramel malt. Through the middle piney and earthy hops come through with stronger bitterness and some more sweet malts. The finish is a mix of tropical and citrus fruits, with lots of grapefruit, some resiny pine, bitterness, and a bit of sweet malt.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a resiny, dry, and bitter finish.
D - Very drinkable. Big hop forward DIPA with lots of citrus and tropical fruits and bitterness coming through. Hop profile is really nice from start to end.

Pour out of growler, thanks Aaron! Hazy yellow-orange pour with nice fluffy white head, nice looking brew. Aroma brought notes of big dank resinous hops, touch of biscuit and spicy floral notes, big fruity tropical fruit as well but mainly like a big bag of dank...hops. Taste is nice big bitter and dank hops, hints of biscuit and spicy hops, big grapefruit and more resinous hops. Wow this is like a bag of weed in a beer, but in a good way.

Bitter finish. Dry palate. Floral aroma and nose. I find the aroma wonderful but understated. A fine ipa.

Growler @ Dans house, courtesy of glouglouburp. Huge thanks! Pours a hazy, light, bright, golden orange appearance with a nice white head that doesn’t have the best retention. Huge piney, ganja, somewhat resiny hoppy aroma. Somewhat sweet grapefruit citrusy, big piney, ganja, sticky hoppy flavor with a fairly piney aftertaste. Great beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hop resins flourish within and atop this Imperial IPA’s cushiony mouthfeel, as lengthy bitterness and a lightly sand-y nature add even more personality.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy head of foam decorates the cloudy beige-y golden.
-Hop flavor is multifaceted and beautifully bright.
-The focus on this one is more on the citrus than, say, a Heady Topper.
-The comfy, fluffy carbonation and lean residual sugars carve a perfect mouthfeel.
-Drinkability is through the roof for such a big brew.
On tap at the brewery and from a growler.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Biere de Norma release. Beautiful orange-gold with thick white head. Aroma is wet grass, citrus (peach), honey and onion. I really hate onion aroma in IPAs but this was well dosed and worked well. Nice grassy flavors and citrus peel. Full bodied and sharp. Classic Hill Farmstead IPA.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL flip-top thanks to oteyj. Pours glowing gold, hazy, with a massive, egg white rocky head with huge retention. Big lace. Nose is holy dear god of gods. Ultra dank butterscotch and starfruit nose with huge marijuana. Ohh. Taste is bitter with excellent yellow nectar fruit balance. Huge mango skin and unrepentant mango flesh. Approaches what I remember batch 1 of Sculpin being. So much fresh mango and pineapple with quenching butterscotch malt. Amazing. Saltwater in the finish with heavy yellow grapefruit pith. Very long oily grapefruit finish. Amazing. I hate Double IPAs. Thankfully no other brewery in the world can make them this good.

Thanks to oteyj for bringing this back from the Biere de Norma release! Cloudy peach pour with a magnanimous, gigantic white frothy head. Nose holds huge white grapefruit, leek and green onion, bitter lemon and orange rind, dank pot and spruce. The flavor is a bit softer but still gorgeous, with more monstrous grapefruit, touches of nectarine and sweeter orange flesh, pine sap, scallion, and hop oil, and an incredibly dry, smacking finish that melds with that characteristic supple mouthfeel in Shaun’s beers. Outstanding IPA, one of the best on the planet in my book.
