Society and Solitude #3: The series of experimental Double IPAs continues. This one is hopped with ample amounts of Columbus and is reminiscent of… an Imperial Harlan.

Taster from brewery. Pours a hazy golden color.... with an aroma of fresh hops, citrus, flowers and maybe a little bubble gummy in a good way. . tastes like grapefruit with a bitter hop finish as how it should be. another amazing Double IPA by Mr. HIll and Crew. thanks a bunch Shaun!!

Picked up at Hill Farmstead on 4-21. Put it in the fridge. Poured into an HFS glass on 4-23.

A - Poured beautifully. Half a finger cream colored head with some decent head lacing. The bubbles stuck around for a while. The beer is a beautiful orange gold color SRM of 3 with lots of clouds / haze in the glass. Really spectacular looking.

S - Shaun was right. Totally an Imperial Harlan by scent. Really nice hop profile that fills the nostrils. Ruby red grapefruit, nectarine and other great citrus scents. Hints of lemon as well with a wee bit of honey. Just the right amount of hoppiness.

T - Heavenly. Very few beers taste like they smell. Very rich grapefruit juice, tangerines and some melon. Great hop finish that covers the tongue and stays around for a while.

M - 95% carbonation on the mouth swish, medium body and very dry finish. Carbonation is almost champagne-like.

O - Society 2 was my favorite black IPA. Society 3 may be my favorite Double IPA. Another fantastic tasting beer from Shaun Hill. The only thing wrong with it is the lack of it being on tap at my house to drink every night.

Draft at Blind Tiger with Scarlett and Jeremy. Pours a super bright, electric orange body with deep thick haze, and white creamy lacing. Aroma is super fresh fruit, mostly citrus, some mango, some bitter hop, pine, and floral notes. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, but still incredibly refreshing with notes of citrus fruits, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, pine, and floral hops. An outstanding double IPA.

On tap at boiler, pours glowing mimosa orange, large clear tiny bibble head, amazing lacing. Aromas of fresh hops, citrus fruits, pepper, pine. Taste is sweet citrus, tangy columbus hops, cheese, orange peel, malt, earthy grains and grass, bitter finish. Awesome

Thanks to Michael for acquiring the growler for me. Shared with Mike and Adam. The beer is golden yellow and mildly hazy with a half inch of white head. Good retention and plenty of lacing. The aroma is seductive. Oh my...citrus, crack, hops, voodoo magicks, etc. The flavor offers a ridiculously smooth blanket of hops. Utterly chuggable. Not too sweet, with a ton of citrus. A touch of malt in the finish, but most definitely a showcase for the hops. This is exactly what I look for in a DIPA. One of the most drinkable DIPAs I have ever had. Overall, this reaffirms that Hill Farmstead is one of the best breweries on the planet. Highly recommended. Serving type: growler Reviewed on: 05-30-2012

750ml growler thanks to onebigtymer11. Enjoying this on my 33rd birthday. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a fluffy white head. Strong aroma of grapefruit, juicy citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, apricot, and biscuit malt. This beer is so well balanced and smooth. It's going down way to easy and fast! Loving this one.

Growler of this stuff I "swung by" during the lawsons anniversary party. Again, feel like a broken record. A perfect IIPA. Very citrusy, with a sticky resiny mouthfeel. Easy drinkability, its already gone! IF YOU GET THIS GET THE 2L. YOU NEED THAT MUCH TRUST ME!!!

On tap at the Biere de Norma release, and a couple growlers afterwards. A vibrant light hazy golden body gives way to a massive tight frothy head with amazing retention and lace. Amazing aromas of citrus, herbal dankness, scallion/ green onion, and nectar fruits. The hop profile in the flavor is accentuated by outstanding dryness, allowing for an absolute Columbus onslaught. Nectary peach, apricot, scallion, and orange peel meld together in pretty amazing ways. Very reminiscent of the Columbus single hop, as well as Harlan, both of which I enjoyed immensely. The palate is light, dry, crisp, and dank. All the hop character shines through powerfully. Really awesome beer.
