Growler, thanks Colin and family - picked up last Wednesday, herein Russell today :). Classic hazy yellow, small foamy head. Strong, yeasty, citrusy hops. Lovely. Taste - wow, kind of the typical HF dry yeasty citrusy taste, but then it kicks it way up with a huge orange zest and a bit of grapefruit kick - not a hop monster, just intensely flavourful. Wow, my favourite HF so far. Stunning. So good.

Strong aroma - but not as strong as other DIPA. Sweet and and smooth with grassy flavor. Caramel and malt flavor, very rich and full body with a semi dry bitter finish. Not a huge fan of the style but that was perfect.

Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a finger of tight white foam. The nose is rustic straw, grass and touches of pine and grapefruit. The palate follows with a full round body and balanced flavors. Nice grass flows into a sweeter mid palate that quickly dries out and gets bitter with lemon zest and rustic straw notes. Another great Hill double ipa !

On tap at Positive pie. Pours hazy golden/amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral and lightly fruity hops plus a nice pale and caramel malts. Flavor the same with a lot of citrusy hops. Smooth texture. A really good beer.

Sampled while waiting in line at the brewery, and again from a fresh growler. Certainly the most piney of the five hoppy offerings at HF this summer season, but not sticky or resinous; still possessing that delicate floral quality that makes the lighter beers so appealing. There certainly is more bitterness in the finish too. Can a hoppy beer be "big" and still be elegant? This experience of graduating from low ABV hoppy ales (I think Walden was 3.6%) up to this heavier beast proves to me that it becomes more challenging to create nuance and balance, but the chosen malt bill and the hop freshness still keep this beer bright and extremely enjoyable. Having the opportunity to try these beers fresh from the source has been a tremendous treat for me.

2L growler served in a HF becher glass. Huge thanks to kevanb for the share. A: Pours a semi-clear golden yellow color with a nice one finger thick white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thick cap that leaves sticky sheets of lace down the glass. S: Sweet malts with a nice grassy undertone. Nice berry bit with a tropical fruitiness to it. T: Wow, what a fruit explosion. Just simcoe and amarillo? Tons of mango, pear and lemon peel with a light grassy bitterness. Biscuit malt sweetness to round it all out. Really nice. M: Light bodied with a nice, medium carbonation level. Sweet and fruity finish. O: Super fruity and delicious. I really enjoyed this one and being a big fan of Amarillo really put this one in my wheelhouse. Serving type: growler 09-06-2013

750 ml flip top on a couple occasions. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have grapefruit citrus, some tropical notes and big catty hops (especially in the nose). The flavor shows much more balance with the malts standing up to the grapefruit, earthy and catty hops. Solid bitterness to the finish. Another solid beer from HF.

On tap at brewery. Hazy orange gold, with light head, good lacing. Aromas and flavor are very skunky, grassy, bitter, and rindy. Liked it but not nearly as good as most of the other societies. A little boozey and slightly sticky sweet in finish. Lacks the minerality I wanted. Lots of simcoe in this one. Medium body. Solid but I was expecting a lot more.
