3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Damico (1920) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 25, 2012
Pours cloudy lemon unclear with a huge bubbly white head. The aroma is lighter, refreshing spring saison yeast and light sweet and herby notes. The flavor starts as saison yeast and nice light funk, than bitter flavor of the dandelions come in prevalently on a super bubbly body than can be swirled out nicely.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 puzzl (3172) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Bottle from the release. Pours with a massive head, lightly cloudy, golden color, a slightly different/darker shade than normal likely due to the honey. Nose is herbal and loaded with fresh cut grass. White pepper puncuates kumquats and a warm sea breeze. Extremely drying in the mouth, what is left of the honey is merely the suggestion of farm fresh product. The dandelions show up in the form of a mild astringency that I find they bring to most beers. An interesting but challenging beer, with the dry astringency being almost overwhelming on larger sips.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Light hazy yellow with a slight green hue. Big, staying, frothy, white head. Aroma has lovely sweet green pepper spiciness, crisp malts, oranges, lychee, light heather honey sweetness. High carbonation, dry and light oily mouthfeel. Flavour has good dryness, crisp malts, soft sweet honey, a good spicy balance with some lovely herbal and light sweet notes. Lingering bitter finish with some light pine and oranges bitterness. The high carbonation is a bit of a let-down, but still wonderful.
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 ClubGonzo (2713) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 5, 2012
Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pours a light hazy straw yellow body with a huge cloudy off-white head. Very impressive looks on this one. Nose is strong peppery dandelion tones, herbs, mild saison yeasty notes, blue cheese and hints of straw and sugar. Absolutely delicious; well pronounced while subtle enough at the same time - so much going on. Taste is even better: mild saison yeast, honey, straw, earth and dandelion mash in with hints of pepper, grass and flowers. My God; it’s like my mouth is wading through a flowery meadow in the Land of Beer! :-) The fluffy, perfectly carbonated body makes the beer fresh and the drinking really easy. Refreshing, mild, complex and drinkable, all at once: definitely the best Saison I’ve ever had! And I don’t even care that much for the style! :-D

Bottle courtesy of SFLpunk. Thanks! Served in a Hill Farmstead long-stem tulip.
Pours a bright, clear golden-yellow color with a towering head and loads of retention. Foamy head is one of the better ones I’ve seen in quite some time. The nose brings some nice dandelion character along with light spice and faint wheat. Flavor has plenty of floral and grain characteristics plus a bit of white pepper and spice. Light body with crisp carbonation and a dry finish. Not quite as enjoyable as some of the other HF saisons, but still quite excellent.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with an extremely lively, tall, white head. Lightly spicy aroma with a whiff of yeast and minerals. Medium-bodied, first a light sweetness and I imagine I can feel a touch of honey. Flowery, spicy, herbal with a dry and lightly bitter finish - perhaps a late twist of licorice? A very pleasant and easy to drink Saison that comes close to the Belgian originals. And in spite of the almost violent head it doesn’t really apper overcarbonated. 310112
