COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name originates from an anagram (Anchor Steam) but the key element of this pre-prohibition style beer is the process of fermenting it with a lager yeast at an ale-like higher temperature.

Can. Pours a mostly clear light amber color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is corn and grains, and seems just a little sickly sweet to me. Taste is that odd corn sweetness that too many lagers have, and that I donít like. Itís just not my thing.

16 oz can from New Seasons. Aroma of copper. Not the most pleasant for a beer, but not completely unpleasant either. Kind of a bready flavor. Not a bad beer.

On tap at Craft Beer Market, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is like a pils, with grassy notes, floral hops and cereal. Flavour is dry, with loads of cereal notes. Quite dry, with the sweet cereal malt dominating. Decent, but nothing special.

Can. Pours a somewhat cloudy orange color with a small white head. A light grainy fruity nose. The flavor is yeasty, some fresh berries, a bit of toffee and English yeast. Nice. The name is sort of odd.

Can from The Beer Mongers. Pours copper with a yellowish white head. Aroma is somewhat fruity, and there seems to be a tobacco note. Med body. Flavor is rather sharp - really suggests tobacco. fruits seem present. Quite an unusual beer to me. Clearly California Common, but strong unfamiliar flavor set.
