Originally as a one-off batch, we soon realized weíd have to make more and its become a year-round draft beer for us. We start it as a typical Extra Special Bitter (ESB), but ferment it with our Saison yeast. From the nose, youíd expect it to finish up wett like many dark Belgian ales, but instead itstays dry and bitter.

Light amber color, hazy, with frothy head. Aroma of phenol, glue. Dry mouthfeel; the flavor is very chemical. Some honey.
Quite bad.

On tap at Hilliardís, pours a dark copper with a small beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast above anything, with no English notes. Flavour brings out dirty Belgian yeast and earthy notes. Pretty solid beer, a la a saison more than an ESB. Decent.

Tap, brewery. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a minimal white head that fell to a thin ring. The nose is dark malt with a slight Belgian yeastiness. Rather sweet smelling with some dark fruits. The flavor is pretty sweet with a bit of a slight chemical note, light citrusy hops, and a bit of yeastiness. Lingering citrusy hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little clingy with some sticky caramel malt. A bit of a made up style perhaps, but not a stellar example compared to the few others Iíve had. A little trying to consume a whole pint of.

Tap... Poured a rusty, dark reddish color with a thin head. Nose had yeast spices, cloves, Belgain beer characters. Nice mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Some malt sweetness up front with dark sugars and caramel maybe. Dried out towards the end with notes of yeast spices and such.
