1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
(330 ml bottle: $1.49 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) Best before 15-Jul-06. This apparently has become one of the latest "cult" beers in Southern California as it’s selling extremely well. Bright, pale yellow in color rather than straw or pale golden, with perfect clarity. The bubbly, white head settles to what absolutely looks like backwashed spit sitting atop the beer -- totally disgusting looking. I don’t remember ever saying this before today, but when the head fully dissipates, it’s actually a good thing in this case. Very light, minimally sweet grain is masked by mild grassiness and bitterness, presumably from hops, so there’s some respectable flavor and balance with this beer. No sign of cardboard, another positive aspect. Pretty sad that the absence of awful flavors is getting solid praise from me, but such is the way it is when you’re drinking a bunch of nasty swill in succession and then finally stumble upon a pale lager that isn’t totally nasty swill. The grainy, grassy nose is only mildly aromatic. Light bodied but not watery, crisp and clean, nicely carbonated. I wouldn’t buy this beer again, but I can at least respect that it’s not swill.

Bottle souvenir from a student, your typical industrial type lager. As it is from a hot climate it is a pretty light refreshing version in the Corona vein. Ok.

Bottle @ ZZT9 thx to martinus. Clear pale yellow colour with a small white head. Smells wet newspaper, pear skin, slightly sweet. Tastes malty, old, some cardboard, some pear but it depends on what kind of pear according to Ansjelaah. Thin body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ ZZT 8 shared by Martinus. Clear pale golden color, small white head that diminishes almost instantly. Quite sweet aroma. Taste is lightly malty, slightly pear, slightly bitter. Well it could be worse.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours rather unclear pale golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of yeast and malt, with faint hoppy notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with estery and malty notes. Bitter, hoppy aftertaste with mild skunky notes. Definitely not the worst Pale Lager I have tasted but rather unclear and not very exciting, either.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, 5%. Metallic aroma. Almost clear golden colour. Good stable tight chalk white head. The flavour is grainy and papery. Low bitterness with a little fruity touch in the finish. The late bitterness is more distinct, though, and a little rough.
