4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This has been sitting for a bit, not quite sure how long. Attractive ruby dark autumn amber pour. Minimal tan head. Aroma is toasty, bready, toffee, light dried fruity, vanilla, light smooth sweet bourbon. Medium body. Very mild bitterness. Great balanced flavor. The bourbon barrel character is in a backup roll, fits in quite well, Easily among the best Hinterland beers Iíve had.

Light bodied but bold taste. Nice bourbon taste, sweet vanilla, smooth. Lighter than expected, but makes it very drinkable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bourbon and dark malts on the nose. Super hazy brown colour, nice beige head . Flavour is perfect, definite bock but the bourbon just adds a great counter point. Nice smooth alcohol warmth. Amaze balls!!!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This one poured a lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was of bourbon, dark fruits, and caramel. Falvor was similar, somewhat oxidized brleywine feel too it with nice vanilla and oak barrel notes. Solid.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle; Pour is mahogany with a fine bubbled khaki head into this glass; the nose is initial earthen oak, caramel malts, a hint of char, with a touch of vanilla present here. There are some dark fruit aromatics as well. The flavor profile is initial off putting, moving to an almost vinous note, but revealing dark fruits. It does tame itself a bit, but It wasnt a good start. Theres a hint of cream, sweet bread, while the barrel treatment is fairly mild. This brew ends up a little muddied, not quite doing any particular thing well. I think the nose was the highlight. Anyway - it was a decent attempt overall as a brew but I was hoping for more here.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a reddish brown with minimal light tan head. Flavors are dark cherry, molasses and bourbon. Very sweet. It's close to being a great dopplebock - I love the barrel aging. But if it could be just a little less sweet. Must be enjoyed at the proper serving temp.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Dirty caramel, reddish hues, thick, a bit brownish even, with a moderate frothy light beige head,
decent lacing.   Soft caramel and even softer bourbon on the nose.   Not as sweet on the tongue.   Seems bready
on the tongue, slightly sweet, bourbon seems to have faded.   Faint caramel and perhaps vanilla.   Not heavy at
all, in fact seems a touch thin.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, but leaning towards thin.   Semi-sweet bready
finish, and thats about it.   Light bourbon to start, after that it seemed like a normal watery doppelbock.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(bottle) Pours a semi-clear reddish-brown color with quickly dissipating off-white head that leaves a lingering film. The aroma leaves no doubt about the whereabouts of this beer prior to bottling, as itís an all-out olfactory assault of bourbon on the nostrils. This is a good thing. Smells of vanilla, butterscotch, oak, and candied cherries are prominently displayed here. Some toffee like scents emerge as well, and I think these and the cherries are the remnants of the base beer which struggle to break through the bourbon barrier. Sour cream and onion potato chips with warming. Tastes of rich toffee, vanilla, stewed plum, along with a lingering note of toasty malt and oak are all thatís composed in the flavor, but itís all that is needed. Faint glimmer of heat which is odd considering the ABV, but perhaps Iím conditioned by something tasting this bourbony to have some sting associated with it. Mouthfeel is medium and carb is perfect. Overall I was really impressed by this, and if it werenít priced so highly, Iíd drink this regularly.
