COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Bourbon Barrel Doppelbock pours a dark amber with an ample, two finger khaki head. Aromas of bourbon and caramel fill the nose. The taste of bourbon oak and caramel fill the palette and finishes smooth. This brew was aged 10 months in bourbon barrels.

16 oz bottle to oversized snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks Skyview). Looks solid; a semi-opaque amberish-brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; malt and bourbon. Average on the palate. It could be a little more viscous, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless.

Pint bottle from Atom, thanks Adam! Pours a hazed, deep amber-red colored body with a finger-width, dense, frothy and creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bourbon, caramel, vanilla, and wood with a bit of a buttered toffee and a light chocolate note. Flavor is similar. Caramel, bourbon, vanilla, and some dark fruits with a light chocolate, buttered toffee, and wood. Finishes rich and malty with a nice, smooth vanilla-bourbon note that slowly dries with some wood before leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty straightforward, but solid beer. Malt forward with a nice vanilla-bourbon element as well as some dark fruits and a light wood. Nice one.

Bottle. Pours dark with a little wood/bourbon aroma. Flavor is wood, bourbon and a sweet doppleback. Not overpowering bourbon. A pretty good beer.

16oz. bottle: This one was tough to get into. The plastic (seemed harder than wax) seal needed some serious chipping to get past it. The beer pours a ruby tinged brown color. There was very little head on it, and it didn’t linger or leave any lacing. The aroma is nice. Some bourbon, but not overpowering. Hints of vanilla and chocolate. Some caramel also. More of a medium bodied beer. The taste is good. Chocolate and caramel malts. Hints of the vanilla and just a touch of the bourbon. Hints of dark fruits also. Very little sweetness to it. Tasty. Nothing really special about it, but it is still good.

500 ml bottle poured a hazy reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, carmel, toffee, dried fruit and light molasses. Palate was medium bodied and smooith. Flavors of carmel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, light dried fruit and light oak with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown, with little head or retention. Nose is maltier than anything else, hints of bourbon and some vanilla. Thin mouth, malty overall, again... a hint (and I do mean a hint) of bourbon. Palate is flat otherwise. Look, I have no problem with wax on my bottle, but at least make it worth the effort.

Damn you wax top, I felt like I was carving wood to get into it. Pours deep amber brown with a small white head. Aroma is, well bourbon and lots of it, caramel and vanilla notes as well, a bit oaky. Flavor has some dark fruits along with the standard bourbon notes of vanilla and coconut. Finishes mild and quick with lingering coconut and caramel. Medium body. I shouldnt like it much since it loses all dopplebock character but as a bourbon fan Ill give it a little extra.
