3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cloudy brown with a short tan head.
Caramel, bready aroma.
Taste is very woody....sweet toffee malt, dark fruit, dark bread.
Pretty good, but a little on the sticky-sweet side...
Alcohol grows more apparent as it warms.

Poured from the four pack, look is chunky brown with an orange-red hue, I don’t smell any bourbon which is good because usually the beer takes the flavor of the booze. I have to be honest I wouldn’t have purchased this beer if I’d known it was aged in booze barrels but this one held up quite nicely and still had a lot of hop flavor with some fruit flavor, was easy drinking considering how strong it is. I will buy this one again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of whiskey, taste is whiskey, hoppy, bitter, caramel, alcohol, finishes clean with a nice whiskey aftertaste. All of these barleywine comparisons are unjustified. It is definitely an Imperial IPA, darker than most yes, but lacking the distinct malty presence and candied flavors from a typical barleywine-imo.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is bourbon/barrel aging and a background of fruit. The flavor is bourbon, pine needles, medium sweetness, malts and a mix of alcohol and hops in the finish. Barrel aging this 20 months turned it into a barleywine, really.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber pour from bottle at 3 Floyds. Has a huge bourbon aroma and flavor. Not sure why this is called an ipa. Buts it's good. Sugary and malty honey taste with a pretty thick pallette.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Pours rosy amber with a film of tan head. Nose is pleasant caramel nut bread. Light yeast, gentle barrel, and a bit of piney citrus hops. Well-integrated. Taste is like a big barley wine. Malty, nutty, caramel, light booze, bourbon, a bit of oak. A hint of hops in the finish. A bit gritty, but the bourbon is complementary, not overbearing. Slick and thick. Real pleasant stuff.

Bottle. Pours clear amber/copper with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, pear, and some floral notes. Flavor is sharp hop bitterness, some malt sweetness, some toast, and faint stone fruit. Medium body and carbonation.

Seriously, my local craft beer stop had these on sale for $1.99, so I had to try a couple....I hope they still have more. Bourbon aroma. Dark golden brown color with no head. Taste is bourbon-sweet, nice smokey wood, ripe pears?, then hops kick in, sort of in the background, then kicks in at the end. Definitely not a DIPA. I agree with the comments saying it’s more a barleywine.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a cloudy red-amber with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet maple syrup and grains. Taste is exactly the same at first, then a gritty bitterness kicks in at the mid palate and smoothes out for a long finish. A great DIPA for those who favor barley wines.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Breeze Thru. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Aroma has stone fruits, citrus, some sweet tropical fruits, toffee malts, pine and oak. Taste has oranges, definite oak aging, some pine and a solid malt backbone. Tangy, oaky and nicely bittersweet, while medium bodied and a bit syrupy. Finishes longly bittersweet in a nice blend of the two. Enjoyable, tasty, and bit surprising with the barrel aging. 14.2
