CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at the 2007 GTMW as Oak-aged Imperial I.P.A.: Pours a transparent dark golden amber bronze with a dense, frothy tan head. Rich complex aroma of sweet caramel and earthy toasty malt with a good fresh oaky character. Body starts fairly full and fresh caramely oaky sweet with nice fresh toasty malty balance toward a warming complex finish. Could hide the abv a little better, but still a fresh and caramely sweet oak aged IPA. brewblackhole (1221), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Aug 9, 2006 Aggressive hop and Bourbon aroma, head was minimal, taste was lip smacking hops ,carmel malts, and of course smooth and rich bourbon overtones, hop flavors were not as dominating in the flavor, bittering hops were more evident in the aftertaste, malts had just a touch of sugardaddy sweetness, alcohol was always present, but never harsh.body was just a touch on the undercarbonated side, but that can work for this style. not an easy style to pull off, but this succeds
