2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle split with Vinny. Pours flat cola brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of cream, bitter coffee, and dark chocolate. Taste it primarily weak black coffee with a bitter creaminess to it. Palate is sort of thin, but it works with the flavors. Decent stout, just definitely not digging the style at all these days.

Bottle. Pours a deep black color with medium beige head. Aromas of roasty, and chocolatey grains, espresso, and light vanilla. Taste is roasty malts, cocoa powder, and coffee beans. Had a nice light to medium bodied palate, very smooth finish.

At Bar Louie on Cumberland. Interesting beer. I both agree with the folks who disliked it and with the folks who liked it. The bitterness of the coffee is sometimes reminiscent of old grounds but it also is like a good restorative dry stout. Serving: Tap

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Pours dark brown in color with a small bubbly off white head. The aroma is roasted coffee, slightly burnt with light chocolate and earthy bitterness. The flavor is thin, watery burnt coffee with hints of dark chocolate. some earthy bitterness at the finish. Not my thing.

On nitro tap at the Old Fashioned. Pours black with brown highlights. Mocha colored creamy head. Nose is coffee, coffee, more coffee. Creamy mouthfeel, with big coffee again, and a hint of baking chocolate. Uncomplicated, but impressively so.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Near black with thin bubbly head. Light coffee, heavy granite/mineral, graham cracker aromas. Light flavor - more sweet than anything, easy drinking. Surprisingly light body. Was okay, but not special.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smoky coffee stout more like a porter stout hybrid. Nice considering how many times American craft breweries screw up this usually simple brew with too many hops!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells like coffee, tastes like chocolate with a hint of smokiness. Good basic try at a stout with characteristic flavors.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16oz bowling pin bottle from Three Cellars. Pours an opaque, very dark rich-looking brown with very little head. Aroma has molasses and coffee - lots of coffee - with hints of chocolate. Taste brings a watery sweet caramel with some bakers chocolate. The caramel becomes stronger deeper into the glass. Finishes mildly bitter and sweet with some nutty linger. The complete watery-ness of the taste put me off, but a lot of the components to it are very solid so I will look for another to see how that is, and that optimism is part of the "overall" score.
