Pours stark black with a lot of dark tan head that rapidly dissipates. Very strong nose of coffee and burnt toast. Surprisingly soft taste, chocolate and coffee with a mild aftertaste. Pretty good, but light tasting stout.

Pours a black with a big and foamy beige head. Aroma is coffee and more coffee with a little bit of chocolate. The taste is pretty much the same. It is very bitter. Although it seems to take the bitterness a little bit to far in my opinion. Light in body, with a thin and oily texture. Lacking in carbonation. This one is pretty simple and straightforward. I like this style and I could drink them all day. But saying that, I usually expect more from these.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Coffee, roast, and chocolate. Coffee present with overall on the thinner side.

Cool brew. On tap at Oblivion. Nose is coffee, roast, and some chocolate. Pour is black with a light tan head. Drinks rather dry with a light touch of coffee and a roasty finish. Good stuff.

On nitro @ Oblivion Taproom. The body was a clean brown, while the head looked like melted ice cream. It smelled like coffee, light hops and more roasted malts. It was incredibly smooth and creamy, like coffee indeed with a touch of dark chocolate. I should have gotten MORE of this stuff.

5 ounce sample glass at the Milwaukee Hinterland restaurant. Aroma is semisweet chocolate, coffee, grains. Appearance is dark, syrupy, black with a thick, tan heavy, milky foam on top - a very good looking stout. Taste is mostly coffee and cocoa beans. Palate is creamy, smooth, nitro-like bubbles on top. Rich and easygoing, not bad at all.

bottle - Pours near black with a tan head. It has a fairly mild roasted malt aroma. The flavor is of coffee and dark roast malt. The roast character leaves a lingering mild bitterness on the palate. This medium bodied brew is tasty and overall works quite well.

Nitro draft to taster. Looks good; a creamy beige that turns black as the nitro settles. Smells solid; malty and roasty with a nice coffee presence. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid beer.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, smooth coffee grinds over grassy chocolate malt, powdery. In mouth, powdery chocolate with grassy notes, coffee grinds, medium bodied. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 19 2012.

The name of the beer says it all, coffee is the dominant taste from start to finish . This beer is pretty smooth and easy to drink. I generally enjoy this beer the most when I am eating a meal, or if it is on nitrogen.
