Smells like fine roasted coffee. Tastes like a fine Stout. Big bottle, lots of alcohol, good price. Flawless beer all around.

The best beer I have found, as far as coffee variant. The first taste catches you off guard but from there itís smooth and refreshing.

First off this is a coffee stout - I couldíve placed it in the "specialty" category. Huge creamy brown head that never stops. Nice roasted aroma of campfire and espresso. Huge roasted flavor that isnít all together from the coffee. Nice use of malts. Nice bitterness that isn;t all from hops. Everlasting finish that is pleasing and tasty. Great use of all the parts to craft an excellent beer.

Although the last of all the samples enjoyed with Joe Karls(brewer) at the Green Bay site, definitely my favorite. Also enjoyed a pint the next day at the Whistling Swan in Fish Creek, and have tasted it in the past at the GT in Madison. Dark black/brown hue with a thick, foamy, light tan, clinging head that lasted nicely. Strong coffee, & hint of dark chocolate aroma followed by a richer, creamy, coffee/mocha flavor with a balanced malty sweetness and hop & roast dryness. Thanks, Joe for the artistry. It’s always worth the trip across the border!

Nearly opaque with a glint of chestnut at the edges. Tall nitro head. My kind of stout aroma. Roasted malts and mild coffee. Just a touch of dark chocolate. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Roasted malt, light coffee and a backdrop of blackberries. This is one where the coffee does not dominate, but contributes to the flavor!

16 oz pint bottle. Pours a very dark chocolate color with a medium dark head. Smells of roasted coffee. Tastes mostly like a deep roasted coffee that lightens a bit in the back back of the palate. Very refreshing for a coffee stout.

Pours opaque black with a generous dark tan head. Head settles nicely with good retention with layers of lacing. Aroma is definite coffee and espresso. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. The coffee flavor is very clean and bright. No bitterness from the coffee. Nice clean and dry finish. Very drinkable. Recommend this one.

Pours a dark brown color with a thick and creamy tan head. A wonderful huge coffe aroma dominated the nose. Hints of chocolate, and roasted malts in there as well. Flavor is of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and hints of vanilla peeking through as well. Great lacing on this one as well Excellent brew!

Nitro tap @ The Cookery in Fish Creek, WI - I had a lot of beer in my week in Door County, but this was by far the best. It looks sexy, it feels sexy, and it smells and tastes like Founderís Breakfast Stout. Yum. Itís jet black, with a creamy head and lots of coffee on the nose. Thereís some roast and lactose in there too, but the taste is well balanced. Itís not too roasty with a milky coffee flavor. Itís good quality coffee with a nice bitter finish. Feels like velvet in the mouth. So impressed with this beer, and I will seek it out if they bottle it.

Not much on the nose but itís a beauty to behold. Pours a deep black with a very rich and creamy thick tan head. Flavor has the slightest hint of black licorice quickly followed by strong dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Great mouth feel and a nice dry, slightly chalky finish. Delicious.
