Skyview (2693), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 19, 2008 Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark caramel brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, brown sugar, toffee and a hint of maple syrup. Taste is medium to full bodied and some light carbonation with flavors of sweet roasted caramel malt, maple syrup, light chocolate, toffee and a touch of raisin. Finish is semi-sweet, creamy texture and a sweet and toasted malt aftertaste that lingers around after the finish. I remember having this back in the mid 1990s when Hinterland was brewing in a small warehouse in Denmark, Wisconsin. Their Maple Bock today is just as smooth and creamy as I remembered nearly ten years ago. Headbanger (948), Aurora, Illinois, USA Sep 22, 2007 12oz bottle-A medium amber body with a decent off white head and an aroma of maple and malt. Taste the same with a chocolate taste coming in very mildy. Not bad. baseballguy (246), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Feb 17, 2003 Much the best beer I've had at Hinterland. The maple is extremely subtle, just a pinch really. Smashing brew. I should say something about the restaurant, which has got to be the most upscale brewery I've ever eaten at -- two people will easily blow $125-$200 here. But the food and ambience and service are terrific. Make it a point to stop by the next time you're in Green Bay; you won't regret it.
