Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark caramel brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, brown sugar, toffee and a hint of maple syrup. Taste is medium to full bodied and some light carbonation with flavors of sweet roasted caramel malt, maple syrup, light chocolate, toffee and a touch of raisin. Finish is semi-sweet, creamy texture and a sweet and toasted malt aftertaste that lingers around after the finish. I remember having this back in the mid 1990s when Hinterland was brewing in a small warehouse in Denmark, Wisconsin. Their Maple Bock today is just as smooth and creamy as I remembered nearly ten years ago.

12oz bottle-A medium amber body with a decent off white head and an aroma of maple and malt. Taste the same with a chocolate taste coming in very mildy. Not bad.

Much the best beer I've had at Hinterland. The maple is extremely subtle, just a pinch really. Smashing brew. I should say something about the restaurant, which has got to be the most upscale brewery I've ever eaten at -- two people will easily blow $125-$200 here. But the food and ambience and service are terrific. Make it a point to stop by the next time you're in Green Bay; you won't regret it.
