Enjoyed during a closed door tasting session in Green Bay with the brewer, Joe Karls. Poured a clear red/copper hue with a light, off white, bubbly foam layer and spotty lacing. The nose was light roasted malt and a hint of caramel. The flavor added a light touch of sweetness and low hop bitterness. Medium bodied, standard faire, but highly drinkable.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2009 On draught during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin as Hinterland Big Red Lager. Pours a clear reddish copper colored brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some nice lacing. Aroma of strong roasted malted barley, a hint of maple, flowery hops and a touch of honey. Taste if medium to full bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of mostly sweet malt, a touch of honey and some roasted nuts. Finish is semi-sweet with a more malt aftertaste and hardly no bitterness. Closer to a Vienna style but very enjoyable.
