3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
8/11/12. GTMW. Dark golden pour, lightly hazy, with a fluffy off-white head. Light citrus, spice, and esters on the aroma. More citrus, especially lemon, on the flavor with some pales malts and spicy Belgian yeast. Not bad.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Poured apple juice yellow with a short, spotty white head. The aroma picked up bright cloves, lemon rind, and floral notes over a bready base.. too skewed toward the lemon stuff. The flavor found bright lemon and black pepper throughout.. some cloves and floral notes too, but the lemon and pepper dominated.. finished very peppery over a touch of honey and bready malt. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. sharp and a bit unbalanced.. not a very good saison.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Assisted in serving this at this yearís GTOM in Madison, WI., so a number of samplings were easily available for my review. Showed a lightly hazed, golden hue, with a white, fluffy head, and nice cling to the waves & spots of lacing. The aroma was lightly floral but more spice as coriander and a hint of ginger, then lemon zest, and some light wheat. The flavor was similar, with a light body, lively carbonation, and a touch of silkiness to the mouthfeel, most likely prompted by the wheat addition. Very tasty, refreshing, and well received by the mass of fest participants.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Particulate laden golden yellow with a large slowly dissipating tan topper. Aroma is grassy and spicy with yeast, pepper, citrus, lemon, bready malt and faintly skunked hops. Taste is citrusy with orange, yeast, bready malt, white pepper, mild sugar and finishes up a touch sweeter than most saisons. Better than most saisons too.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle on the recommendation of a nice shopkeep at Kahnís. Poured a slightly hazy gold with good-sized but quickly dissipating head. Aroma is lemongrass and biscuity malt. Initial flavors of hay and earthiness with lemongrass notes on the end. Deceptively rich mouthfeel. High carbonation. Sticky, slightly unpleasant aftertaste, but not a deal-breaker. I was worried when I saw some of the other reviews for this beer, but Iím fairly impressed.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma of lemon, slight brett, gum and honey. Appearance is gold with white head. Flavor has some gum, banana, brett and honey; I miss the pepper and dryness of a true Saison here. Palate is creamy and somewhat lively. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer pours a slightly cloudy, tarnished gold in color with a one finger bright white, soapy head. The nose is impressive right off the bat. It features a lot of lemon rhind, a cardamom esque spice, light citrusy yeast, and light hay. The flavors are very well rounded. There is a lot of spicing, a lot of cardamom, and the citrusy peel aspect isnít over the top. The yeast character is near perfect. It has really nice flavor. It drinks light in body and leaves behind plenty of spice. Itís pretty interesting. For an American made saison, this is pretty solid. While I may get flack for this, I would say that it is a poor manís version of Fantome Hiver, with a much lighter mouthfeel.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a smallish head and aromas of lemons, honey and white pepper. Flavor is... well... I really donít like this beer. It tastes like a mediocre shandy... sweet and lemony... but then with some buttery and peppery edginess to it. Not my cup of tea. Not how I like saisons, either.
