3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
16 oz bottle to pint. Looks solid; a transparent copper with fluffy off-white head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells solid; semi-sweet, hoppy, and malty. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pint bottle shared. Orangish brown color with off white head. Nice aroma of sweet malt. Has a good solid malt backbone. Get some hop action on the back end. Don’t feel this is overly hopped. But does have a smooth finish. Almost cloyingly sweet on the back end. Pretty decent for Oktoberfest.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2013 I love these rather large bottles of hinterland. Big pounder bottle, quite unique in packaging. I’ll give it any extra 0.1 out of 5 for the bottle glass. Nice interesting aroma which is clean yet hint of tartness in the olfactory. Some bitter bite but it fades during the session. Decent kick without an in your face alky rudeness. Goes down with a litlle bit of a hinderance, oops, I mean hinterness, heheh. Yes, perhaps more hops than I care for ina fest. Somewhat medium dull bitter finish. Perhaps a little clying at times, maybe an old bottle, a few months.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. A medium copper colored brew with a thin light khaki head. The nose has fall leaves and peanuts. This tastes of toffee and peanuts. There is also some tasty toffee. A little bit of wood in the finish. Well made.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was poured from tap into a pint glass. Pours dark orange color with a nice and foamy head.
There is very nice balance to the aromas of grains, amber notes, crackers and some bits of navel oranges as well.
medium bodied with a good smooth feel though it is slightly lacking on the mid. Balanced with straightforward flavors of grains, amber notes and some navel oranges.
I enjoyed this. A quality marzen that hit the spots I was looking for.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from West Lakeview Liquors. Pours a mostly clear, golden-copper colored body with a thin, frothy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is lightly toasted, grainy, somewhat bready caramels with a light sweetness. A light, clean, floral and grassy hopping with a bit of a fruitiness. Flavor is similar. Clean, grainy, lightly sweetened bready caramels with a decent floral and grassy hopping. A light toastiness as this finishes dry with a moderate bitterness that seems a touch high before leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Medium-light body with a moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a decent Oktoberfest. Crisp and clean with a toasty, lightly sweetened, grainy caramel malt backing and a somewhat bitter, floral and grassy hopping. Not bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pale copper with a firm tan head. Aroma has caramel malts, toasted malt, a bit earthy, and a light spice. Medium-full bodied with a creamy feel. Flavor is full of sweet and toasted malts, a bit of biscuit, earth, a touch of chocolate, and a bit of zesty spice. A really nice lager.
