Bottled. Poured light-medium orange with a short, bigger-bubbled white head. The aroma picked up lightly-toasted caramel and bready malts with odd metallic/sour fruity accents.. overall sweet and alright. The flavor found the same bready malts at the core along with slightly syrupy, yet sour fruit skins.. tacky and sour on the finish. Light-medium bodied and dry on the palate with a thicker feel than it needed.. this was either a mediocre beer or a fairly solid beer with an infection.

On tap at Hinterland. Served a mid-gold color with a slightly frothy lace. Aroma was of malts and hay. Taste was similar with a strong hay flavor. Not my favorite flavor in a beer. Palate was decent. Overall, a decent brew with an odd flavor relative to other Octoberfests that I have sampled.

aroma- caramel, bread, grass. pours light amber. taste is caramel, bread, nice roasted malt, light chocolate, grass. Nice full body for an oktoberfest, carbonated, and refreshing. Very Nice!

16oz bottle thanks to BeerFMAndy, totally unsolicited, and for that I thank him immensely.
Pours clear golden with a small white head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
The aroma is pretty nice but a little grainy with pale malt and slight floral and grassy hops.
The flavor is decent. A little more hop-forward and less malty than I’d like maybe. Pale malt, orangey citrus, and grassy/earthy notes.
Fairly crisp with medium-light body and good carbonation level.
A solid but not great Oktoberfest overall.

16 oz bottle. Deep amber orange. Decent malt nose and slight noble hop aroma. Taste is far too sweet/caramel for the style.

Bready,but more bold solid malting ,has a slight crystal malt aspect to it,almost a honeyed tea aspect to it,head is very light not much going on in the way of carbonation, taste is a solld malt flavor,the kind that only well done Oktoberfest’s can capture. I love that sweet toast,no hop aspect of this style,and Hinterland has captured all the best facets of it.Looks like it might be flat,but it isnt at all,one of those brews you can be content to suck on your tongue for a while after each swallow,hope that doesnt sound wierd

Clear golden orange, whitish foam. Aroma is light grainy, herbal. Taste is grassy, herbal hops, light spicy maltiness.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2013 Enjoyed during a closed door tasting session in Green Bay with the brewer, Joe Karls, and later during Fall Fest in Sister Bay, WI. Poured a clear, golden amber with a white, foamy head, and streaks and spots of lacing. The aroma was immediately German malt notes, toastiness, and a hint of noble nose. The flavor added to these a touch of light, sugary sweetness that was properly overshadowed by supportive hop bitterness, and abundant malt. The beer finished subtly dry and smooth. Although a fan of Marzens, this presented a nice, lighter change for this fest seasonal.

On tap at Hinterland. Pours a clear copper color with medium off-white head that fades quickly leaving some nice ring like lacing. The aroma is light biscuit, sweet malt, caramel and spicy floral hops. Taste is much the same with teh floral aspect being more pronounced in this then other Oktoberfests where they are more malt forward. It’s not to say that this isn’t malt forward, it just has more of a hop backbone then other Oktoberfests I’ve had. Lightly carbonated and has a bitter and semi-dry finish.

On draught at the brewpub in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin location. Pours a clear light copper amber brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus zest, a touch of toffee and some earthy herbs. Taste has a nice balance of caramel malt and citrus zest flavors that makes this a vienna style more than the traditional malty copartner. Finish is smooth with a slight citrus and piney hop aftertaste that quickly disappears and leaves behind a mild bitter aftertaste.
