16 oz bottle from Binnyís downtown Chicago. smooth caramel lager appearance and aroma with a hint of european hops - not so "highly hopped" as the deScription but nicely balanced. more of a typical dunkel/vienna than an octoberfest beer, but itís quite appropriate for the season. medium-to-full body and balanced with a nice smooth finish. very enjoyable.

Thanks to BeerFMAndy for sending this brew out my way. Served in a pilsner glass. Pours a cloudy orange color with a single-finger head to start out with. The head is quite bubbly and not terribly dense. Some large bubbles of head stick to the sides of the glass. Nose is good with some nice earthy hop notes. There is a good dose of bready malt as well as some light caramel notes. The taste brings a pretty nice caramel character along with some slightly-toasted bread and a bit of bread crust. There is a slight earth presence in the taste as well, though not as much as there was in the nose. The bread continues to come through into the finish, which is slightly dry and pretty nice overall. Good light-to-medium body with nice carbonation. Overall, this is a nice oktoberfest that Iím glad i got to try. It sticks within the style fairly well but adds a bit of an American twist with more hops than most traditional German versions, though itís not overly hoppy. Pours a clear copper with thin white head. Aroma is mostly malty with some caramel notes coming through as well as some spice. Taste is malty up front with more caramel and roasty notes. A bit of hoppyness comes through on the end with a slightly bitter finish. Good mouthfeel. Overall an enjoyable, sessionable Marzen.

Cold 16oz bottle: Pours a clear medium orange color with a small amount of bubbles. Aroma is of nice grains and light fruits, with a hint of grassy hops. Taste is of nicely blended malts and notes of light fruits with a lightly bitter ending. Medium bodied and smooth, with ample carbonation.

Pint bottle shared. Orangish brown color with off white head. Nice aroma of sweet malt. Has a good solid malt backbone. Get some hop action on the back end. Donít feel this is overly hopped. But does have a smooth finish. Almost cloyingly sweet on the back end. Pretty decent for Oktoberfest.

16 oz bottle to pint. Looks solid; a transparent copper with fluffy off-white head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells solid; semi-sweet, hoppy, and malty. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

On tap on the sidewalk into a plastic cup. Medium dark amber with medium off white head. Taste more malt than hop with hints of undefined fruit. Smooth with full body. Had following a Sam Adams oktober from a block down and it was absolutely gods nectar in comparison.
