Winterland is deep brown to black with amber highlights. The massive brown head deposits large sheets of lace right down to the very last sip. The dark malt and heavy dark chocolate aroma mixed with a slight juniper scent, give Winterland a sort of chocolate covered berry aroma. The rich roasted malt flavor makes itís appearance first, followed by a dark bitter chocolate flavor. Winterland is reminiscent of a porter or stout with a surprising juniper berry finish.

Quite soft but very dark. Crwamy in features and very appealing. Looked less interesting than it is.

Bottle - Pours very dark with big, creamy head. Chocolate, coffee, and burnt malt notes with some sweetness. Nice, rich mouth feel, velvety. Solid porter.

This beer is my nemesis. My local gas station, which has the best beer selection in town, carries this regularly, and somehow, I keep forgetting how much I hate it. This last time, it was marked down to $4.99 for a six pack. Awesome price, right? On taste alone, it is. But itís nearly undrinkable without investing a ton of time to wait for the head to go down. Extremely annoying. Drinking from the bottle, the beer explodes in your mouth, allowing you to only drink in small sips. Pouring into a glass? I just used 3 glasses, and waited until they all lost the head before I could drink. Nearly 10 minutes. I really doesnít matter that the beer tastes good. Itís annoying, even at that price. Please lord, let me remember next time...

Bottle at the beach. Pretty decent porter overall with an interesting subtle juniper finish. Pours dark brown/black with crazy fluffy head- had to use two glasses. Lacing lasts all the way through. All the right roasty/ smoky/ nutty/ cocoa porter notes with lasting bitterness in finish. Somewhat heavy on the charred flavor. Medium to heavy mouthfeel. Alcohol not overwhelming. Better than expected.

Pours a dark brown with plenty of rich tan head. Coffee, roasted malt, and a little raw cocoa bean on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a roasty char malt note.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. Brew smells funky, malty (naturally), and a tinge sour. Beer is opaque black in color with a small, but rich, tan head. Initial taste is sour and a little spicy. The thick malt lays in at the middle of the sip, and the finish is quite bitter. Mouthfeel has a little carbonation bite at the attack, but the rest is pure richness and creaminess. Overall, I donít dislike this beer. Itís an interesting drink, but doesnít seem well balanced. The array of flavors work against each other rather than working in harmony. "Never turn your back on your beer."

The aroma is burnt malt and coffee with a hint of molasses. The taste is like the aroma and very dark and bitter. The palate is thick. Overall one the strongest thickest porters I have had and yet not overly alcoholic. This is an Imperial porter!

pours black with a smallish brown head. Aroma is malt and non-deScript fruit. The taste is very interesting and complex. Slight chocolate, but then floral or fruity. A hint of coffee but then some slight citrus notes as well. Bittersweet on the finish. Difficult to describe, but tasty. Good beer!
