ElDesmadre (483) - Mikołów, POLAND - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle, kindly provided by Quack-Duck. Hazy dark amber with a frothy head. The aroma reminded me of a... light dunkel, perhaps? There is caramel, dark bread and licorice, but the aroma is not really ’dark’ so to speak. Maybe this is because of the apple notes in the background? Anyway, I don’t quite get the name of the beer, as it contains very little hops. Both in aroma and in taste, the latter being mid-bodied malty, light sweet and subtly bitter, with some more licorice than hops in the aftertaste. Low on hops, not too high on aroma, though this would make a good breakfast beer I believe.

Pours light yellow with a large foamy head. Aroma has notes of wheat, malts and earthy herbs. Taste is slightly sour and earthy with notes of wheat, malts and spices.

(bottle) pours a murky amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of yoghurt and hazelnuts, with a hint of straw and herbal hops. flavour is mostly the same, quite heavy on diacetyl, with a hint of caramel and a light grainy finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation. drain-pour.

33o ml flip-top bottle picked up in Stuttgart, Germany. Is an amber gold color with a nice off white head. Aroma is spicy malt. Taste is licorice, hops and fine grains. Palate is nice as well, ending ever so slightly sweet.

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2011
Test vom 12.8.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,9,9,10,11,9 - 9,35

Schroppfy (2335) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - MAR 26, 2011
Deep amber. First pour is rather clear, dense head. Second pour brings some cloudiness and subdues the carbonation quite a bit. A malty beer with earth and caramel, but also some vegetable. Moderate bitterness and moderate sweetness. Aroma is some herbs, pencil shavings, and very good and gets better throughout the pour. Iron in flavor, but the beer gets a little sweeter as it warms, losing the special softness and becoming quite like liquid bread.

Bottle 33cl. A clear yellow beer with medium head. Nose is hopy and malty. Aroma is sweet, properly malted with toasted notes at the finish, a very nice hops bouquet with grassy, hay, floral and resin notes, some vegetable hints too but properly balanced, a great pilsner like.

Swing top bottle from Quack-Duck, thanks! Amber color. Soft grassy aroma with a hint of nutmeg. Malty bready flavor, but not the intense hoppiness the beer name promised. Short aftertaste. Nice session brew.
