COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nich pasteurisiert!

Bottle, bought somewhere in Graz. Golden body, medium white head, went fast. Honeyish malty nose, light dusty hop. Sweet malty taste, bitterish hop presence, unexciting though, bit flowery and lemony. Nothing off, slightly papery. The body’s heavy, vaguelly buttery. Unexciting, but correct heller bock.

0.5 L bottle, bought @Julius Meinl, Wien. Coarse big-bubbled shiny white head. Body is brilliant yellow-golden. Initial aroma of grass and something raw vegetal. Green leaves maybe. Then a noticabel alcohol sweetness, and hints and nuts and sweet bakery. Sweet alcohol-infused malt flavor. Quite harsh, actually. A light fruitiness and some grassy and earthy bittering hops underneath. Chewy mouthfeel. Feels full in the mouth. Short, sweet and warming finish.

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 6, 2012

Bottle. Crisp beer with noisy white foam. (Quiet! I’m rating a beer.). Light grain scent with a hint of character. Strong hop forward flavour with an industrial edge that fades into an unhappy aftertaste. At first I was thinking that this was similar to my first aggressive IPA as far as shock I woul come to love but then with the fade to industrial waste/malt liquor I would think not. Perhaps I am being unfair but I think the effect, thought and taste are reflected. Bottle best before of June 2012.

330ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a finger of white head that settles to leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is some grassy hops and light grainy malts. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with some grassy hop bitterness. Light to medium body with light carbonation. A decent bock style beer, but nothing really special.

Bottle at home. Nice golden colour, thick rocky white head. Honey, mild fruit, maize, boozy nose. Sweet caramel, bready fruity palate with a soft fruity hop finish. Hint of alcohol warmth. Not bad.

Smooth and slightly creamy lager with a malty undertone. A sweet spot in the mid and a sweetish malt dry finish. Decent.

Bottle from Julius Meinl in Vienna. Medium deep yellow color, good head. Slight aroma of malt, a bit sweet. Rather faint, though. Good malty taste, as usual for the style. Sweet up front, with a good hop backing and finish. Medium to heavy body, average sweetness. I think it is a bit more heavily hopped than usual, with a longer-lasting aftertaste. Very good. Rather strong tasting.

courtesy of Markus Wernig - clear golden-bronze colour with a little foam left; sweetish aroma of apples and pears; very sweet with a quite full malt body; sweetish and fruity malty and ethanol finish - not good

500cl bottle, April 2008 tasting. Brassy colour. Came over more like a strong lager than a bock - didn’t have much depth on the palate. Not too boozy but not much else of note came through. Reasonably balanced and drinkable but a bit dull.
