COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hirter Morchl beer is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. Hirter Morchl is still brewed the “proper” way, with dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, which are also responsible for its dark colour. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. The Hirter Morchl is another specialty beer that is allowed to mature naturally and in its own time and that is neither pasteurised nor otherwise interfered with. It is rendered non-perishable by means of a double filtering process.

500ml bottle - Pours dark amber with a two finger head and a very malty aroma. The flavor has sweet caramel malt, a hint of chocolate, and some mild hops. It’s medium bodied and goes down easy. This dunkel is rather enjoyable.

500ml bottle at Bohemian, Deal. Deep ruby with cereal, toffee and dark malts in the mouth. Nice toffee and good malts. Very different flavour on this dunkel, but it’s a good different.

Thanks Jason. The beer pours to a translucent medium brown body with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is full of mineral water and biscuits. Odd notes of something like buttered tobacco. The flavor is mineral water soaked tobacco and a deep caramelized sugar. Strange but fairly drinkable. Best by 03-2008.

Sampled during Cheesehead YeHA in Brookfield, Wisconsin and shared by Ughsmash. Pours a light copper amber brew with a fast dissipating off-white head that leaves behind a fine film and light white ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweetened bread dough, some powdered baker’s chocolate, caramel malt and some flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of biscuit dough, dark chocolate some oak wood and a touch of dark fruit. Finish is slightly dry and mild bitter with a bread dough and chocolate aftertaste.

Ughsmash (7086) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 17, 2007
Bottle, BB 03/08. Poured clear iced tea brown with a short, creamy beige head. The aroma picked up very sweet caramel and chocolatey notes along with some pils malts. The flavor was quite sweet again, with caramel and bready notes at the core.. sweet around the edges and through the finish, where it picked up some chocolate and minerals. Lighter-bodied and all kinds of sweet on the palate.. solid for the style, but I don’t find it to be a very good style.

Bottle at Krah, Krah in Vienna on our honeymoon. Pours a copper brown with a tall beige head. Aroma is very light. Bready doughy and bakers chocolate. Chocolate toasted flavors. Slightly burnt and biscuity. drying with bakers chocolate that lingers with an oaky earthiness. Nice balance of roast/toast/chocolate/sweetness/earthiness/oak. T beer.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2007 Bottled 0,50L. Beautiful and deep brown color with discreet bubbly aspect. Abundant head of medium resistance. Roast and toasted cereal notes, scent of malt and smoked wood. Very lively and much fizzy taste with pleasant aromas of burned wood and braced malt. Much bitter and amazingly balanced. Not much reisistente final.

red-brown colour, id-sized and solid, brownish head.roasty smell with coffee. starts (unexpected) with hops. roasty taste with coffee is dominant but very hopsy. mid mor bitter and a bit sticky on the lips. ends bitter and smoky with sweet and fruity aromes. interesting.

Nice looking--dark brown, with a sizeable off-white head that leaves a goodly lace. Aroma, however, is rather unpleasant, buttery, with some thin carob notes, and a metallic twang. Flavor is relatively thin, unpleasantly buttery, with some carob or cheap nougat notes.
