COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hirter Morchl beer is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. Hirter Morchl is still brewed the “proper” way, with dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, which are also responsible for its dark colour. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. The Hirter Morchl is another specialty beer that is allowed to mature naturally and in its own time and that is neither pasteurised nor otherwise interfered with. It is rendered non-perishable by means of a double filtering process.

Bottle. Hazy, very dark mahogany liquid. Light tan dense foam. Soft carbonation. Light sweetness, medium bitterness. Coffee aroma at first, dried plum aftertaste. Very good one.

Pours a brownish/black – with a small almost non existent head. Smells sweet and caramely with a strong alcohol note. First sip is pure caramel – sweet, sweet and more sweet. Finishes nice and bitter, carbonated well. If you like caramelized sweet beers, you will not be disappointed.

(Bottle BBE 09/2007) Caramel, roasted malty and coffee aroma. Dark brown red colour and light brownish, average size head with fair lacing. Roasted malty (slightly burned), caramel, coffee, sweet and slightly acidic flavour. Lively carbonated, slightly dry and medium-bodied palate. A quality dunkel! 19/05/07

500 ml bottle at Krah-Krah in Vienna. A beer than illustrates neatly the limitations to the term Dunkel. Near-black, heavily caramelled with a touch of black asphalt, but not too sweet. Bitterness virtually absence but a bit of hop aroma. A must-have in Austria.

On tap at Map Room, Chicago. A very nice dunkel-- fresh, with no aftertaste. Could drink many of these on a nice fall evening.

Dark amber, small tan head, clear. Aromas of malt predominate, with a bit of dark fruit and hops - kind of like a german bock. Taste is light - almost a bit too light, seems a bit watery - and fairly sweet, small amount of bitterness. This is a good lager that could be very good with a bit more malt.

The Morchl has a very strong aroma; it is reminiscent of carmel, grass, and bread yeast. The taste is fine, not too sweet, sour, or bitter. The body isn’t very thick, and overall I’m not fond of the palate, since palate-wise it doesn’t feel like I am drinking a beer. Nonetheless, the good aroma and flavor make this a decent, unique beer.

Pours dark and thin bodied with a beige head. Has a nice malty aroma. Taste is sweet and cola-like. Very pleasant.

Poured a dark brownish-red with a finger of creamy, tan head. Toffee, molasses, and butterscotch dominate the nose, but raisins and some nuttiness are hidden behind those. Very sweet, almost toffee like all the way down, with a minimal hop bit. Goes down smooth. Very good, especially since a pint is only $2.
