Bottle. Molasses and chocolate malt aroma. Dark reddish brown color with moderate tan head. Slightly sweet molasses and light chocolate malt flavor. Lighter body. Pretty good.

A fine Austiran dunkel. It is sweet and malty, but super drinkable. notes of cocoa and subtle hosp adorn the tongue.

Bottle in Vienna, 2006.
Very dark brown, almost opaque. Good head. Faint aroma, a hint of roasted malt and caramel. Tastes more burnt and coffee-like than any other Austrian dark I have tried to date. A dark lager, but somewhat stout-like. Only slightly sweet, not a whole lot of hops either, but well balanced. Great malt.

( 500ml bottled 03/2008 thanks to bu11zeye) Pours light brown with some bubbles and good lacing. Nose of corn, light chocolate. Semi-sweet chocolate also in the taste. Well carbonated and a light linger that is slightly off.

You could call this dunkel a schwartzbier and I wouldn’t argue. It pours a dark brown body highlighted in ruby with a respectable creamy tan head. Nice lacing. The aroma is sweet with lightly roasted malts, some bittersweet chocolate, and crushed walnuts. Nice sweet roasted malt flavor, dark caramel, a nutty bitterness, and a suggestion of coffee grounds. Good sessionable lager.

Sampled during Cheesehead YeHA in Brookfield, Wisconsin and shared by Ughsmash. Pours a light copper amber brew with a fast dissipating off-white head that leaves behind a fine film and light white ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweetened bread dough, some powdered baker’s chocolate, caramel malt and some flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of biscuit dough, dark chocolate some oak wood and a touch of dark fruit. Finish is slightly dry and mild bitter with a bread dough and chocolate aftertaste.

This poured with a dark brown and garnet high lighted body. The head was a medium khaki and clung to the glass. Pancakes, caramel and some almonds made for a rich nose. The taste had some caramel with iced tea. There was also a hint of nice milk chocolate in the finish. A smooth and slick body help to make this a nice session brew. A pretty good dunkel.

Caramel and barnyard aroma. Brown colour, light brown frothy head, good lace. Chocolat flavors, light bitter, roasted, light sweet. Moderate full.
