In aroma this is very heavy on the toffee and caramel, a good sign. The flavor is similar to the aroma with a good palate. Among the best dunkels out there.

Poured into a tall 0.5 liter glass stein. Copper to brown colored with two fingers of fluffy off-white head.
Rich smelling malt, pepper, barley and slight citrus.
Rich tasting also. Sweet and malty, a bit chewy, almost no carbonation, and a touch of bitter. At the end it has a watery taste where the dominate flavors quickly fall off.
Very enjoyable. Looks amazing and smelled and tasted great. Tough to beat.

Probably the best beer... No, it´s not. But it is a very, very good dark beer. Caramel and fruits. And also nice to look at with a big head. I should have bought some bottles back home.

500ml bottle. Deep, thick burgundy-brown with a beige head. Fruity caramel aroma, very mellow and milkshake like. Medium bodied, with some light, watery chocolate tones. Nice and bready, very soft on the palate. Yeasty creaminess really rounds this beer out, and gives it more dimension. Love to have it fresh on tap.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2011 It is hard to find a better, true-to-style central European dunkel in the midwest. Brown with a red hue. Low carbonation, and a short lived, brown head. Aroma has malt and red meat. Lots of malt in the flavor, with fresh bread and lager yeast. Very smooth, and a good, sweet finish. Rerated 10/21/2011. Score unchanged. This time, I notice sediment floating in the beer, unusual for a dunkel, but I have no problem with that.

A frothy-headed, deep woods brown lager. Heft of malt well balanced like their German cousins. Maly and toasted with notes or raisin. The Europeans just do this beer better than we do.
