COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hirter Morchl beer is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. Hirter Morchl is still brewed the “proper” way, with dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, which are also responsible for its dark colour. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. The Hirter Morchl is another specialty beer that is allowed to mature naturally and in its own time and that is neither pasteurised nor otherwise interfered with. It is rendered non-perishable by means of a double filtering process.

Pours a very dark amber, perhaps brown, with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, bready, and some chocolate. Taste is lighter, and isn’t to bad. Very malty with the above noted flavors from the aroma. Kind of earthy as well. Some carbonation, but altogether smooth. Nothing of not really stands out.

From the half-liter bottle to a tall glass. Aroma is toffee, some milk chocolate, some toasted bread and caramel. Dark brown with a ruby tint. Taste is sweet upfront, but this certainly isn’t a "sweet one". The flavor is somewhat charred, malty, and sweet with mild bitterness present in the finish. Feel slightly bubbly for how thin it is. Overall, pretty good.

Pours dark but not black, can see through it. Big bottle at Solstice. Smells like tar, oil, nutty. Weird. Thick palate. Seems bland but I think it tastes how it is supposed to. Not my favorite but I appreciate it

Deep red pour with a thin head. Lace is present. Aroma of raisin and caramel. Taste is a little metallic. Some raisin and farm notes in the taste. Thin mouth.

0.5 l bottle from an Eurospar in Graz. Poured dark mahagony brown body with medium brownish head living quite short, leaving laced glass. Aroma was quite weak, some pale caramel, sour to sweetish feel. Flavor sourish at first, with some fruits and hints of coffee, turning into slighty sweetish caramel, but everything so thin bodied and watery. Finish was fine, follows the best from the flavor. Not bad, but too empty and too ordinary. Not even near the best dunkel I’ve had.

Dark red, mahogany, with nice beige head. Aroma is full and sweet: caramel, toasted malt, fresh black bread, a little molasses, raw cane sugar. Good nose. Taste is initially sweet, with a great maltiness like caramel and raw cane sugar, that develop in a roasted malt bitterness and toasted bread. Hops in in second plane, with light grassy hints. Body is quite light. Finish is a little short, with a light bitterness that fade very rapidly. Overall, is not bad... Quite easy to drink, just a little too much watery for my palate, but good.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Soft palate on this dark beer. Very moderate carbonation. One dimensional dark malt but nice nontheless.

Didn’t make a huge impression on me. Beautiful, pillowy head and clear, dark brown body. Some fresh bread aroma with notes of light toffee. I get some lightly-browned toast and grass as well. Mouthfeel is neat--very slick. An easily approachable beer.

Tastes better than it smells. Sweet and malty, with a lightly dry finish. Rather uninteresting.

Bottle 0,5l. Brown colour. A lasting white head. Some chocolate notes. A bit on the sweet side, but not extreme. Well balanced.
