COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hirter Morchl beer is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. Hirter Morchl is still brewed the “proper” way, with dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, which are also responsible for its dark colour. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. The Hirter Morchl is another specialty beer that is allowed to mature naturally and in its own time and that is neither pasteurised nor otherwise interfered with. It is rendered non-perishable by means of a double filtering process.

Pours with a medium head, nice and fluffy. That fades into a decently thick lacing which grows easily as the glass is agitated. Color is clear ruby brown. Aroma is lagered berries and light, clean caramel lagered malts. Works well, the aromas bounce off of each other. Some light earthy/herbal German hops peaking through there as well. Taste has a bit more clean malt sweetness with a light mineral water and hop presence. The mineral aspect makes it super easy to drink. Just goes down easy with no thick or overbearing aspects. Light nutty sweetness tickles the aftertaste senses. Nothing alone is remarkable but it all comes together very nicely. Just so damn drinkable.
500mL bottle, BB 11/2009, in a generic white wine glass.

mmmm, very nice beer! Got this bottle at Sam’s in Chi a couple of weeks ago. Poured with a huge, textured, foamy, and frothy tan head and lots of lace. Color is a nice dark walnut. Aroma is malty with toffee and mild. Flavor is similar with some lurking sweetness. Great body with fine carbonation and soft mouth goes very well with flavor. Nice easy finish. Session beer.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a stable light brown head. Sweet malt, licorice, molasses, coffee, light chocolate and soy sauce aroma. The flavour has a very big soy sauce taste to it with sweet malt and coffee also present. As it warmed it then took on more complexity and signs of more chocolate, caramel and raisins. The soy sauce character was then not as intense. Very complex and not unpleasant but at first a little too much soy for my liking. It then did a back-flip and became really enjoyable. Need to remind myself not to drink this so chilled if I come across this again. Very interesting and complex dunkel.

Draught at map room. Legit beer appearance. Awesome pour. Dark brown with a towering mountain of head. Toasty, caramel, and light chocolate aroma. Nice caramel and chocolate flavors. Low hops. Very nice balance of toasty malt and sweetness. Medium light body. Nice stuff.

Countbeer (4035) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2011
Bottle: Pours a deep dark ruby beer with a medium to bigger pretty vast and little lively light brown/light tan/creme head. Smell caramel, toasted malts, sweeter herbs, some slight hints of darker fruit like prunes, figs and raisins, some oatmeal and grains. I got the idea that the smell is a tiny teeny bit withdrawn. Taste is a very nice, smooth balanced and pretty full tasting mix of caramel, toasted grains, some hints of dark fruit like raisins, herbs, grass, soft like butter, hint of something metal, hint of some (lighty toasted) nuts. A nice bitterness and a nicely balanced mix of darker ingredients. Medium bitter, herby, dark fruits and toasted grains in the aftertaste. Low carbo, soft light tingly mouthfeel, medium to a lightly bit fuller body and a light watery/creamy texture. Nice brew.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2011 Liter at Grunauer in KCMO. Pours a deep mahogany with a sizable, creamy, beige head. The nose is of clean toasty malt with some caramel and faint cocoa in there. Light-bodied and soft with an almost roasty, slightly drying finish. The flavor is of clean toasty caramel malt, some toffee and a touch of dark roast coffee in the finish. This is one of the tastier dunkels that I have sampled to date. Suggested by our server, Mark. Very good stuff, and a great compliment to my meal.

Bottle. Poured a black almost black color with a smaller tanish of white head. Aroma was lots of yeast, earthy, fruits, and malts. Weird bready flavor with hops and caramel in the finish. Weird flavor but was very good. A great beer.
