Quack-Duck (1631), Bodensee, Germany Apr 28, 2008 bottle. Dark brown colour, large and incredibly persistent and creamy beige head. Malty nose. Well-balanced flavours of malt, roasetd malt and caramel with a fruity touch. Lingering finish with hints of caramel. Great stuff!
jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Jul 13, 2008 Dark reddish beer with a large, rocky beige head. Lots of malt syrup in the nose with some dusty grains. This is a sweet beer with lots of malt and caramel, but the roasted grains try to balance it out some. Some burnt toast astrigency under all the sugar, especially in the finish. There is a thin-ness to it, but not a bad dunkel. Slayer85 (434), Firenze, Italy Jul 1, 2008 Bottled. A clear dark red beer with a huge and persistent beige foam. The aroma is overall malty, not extremely powerful, but quite nice with notes of caramel and nuts. Light roastiness. The flavour has a medium sweetness, nice bready malts with again caramel notes and some hops in the end. Light to medium body, watery texture, average/lively carbonation, short/medium finish with light bitterness. Very drinkable, but too thin body for my taste. Worth a try. The Etruscan (256), Tuscany, Italy Jun 20, 2008 Beige foamy head. Mahogany colour. Aroma is malty with light roasty and bready notes. Flavor is malty too with light fruity and roasty tones, ending in a malty slightly nutty finish. Light bodied.
hombrepalo (403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 11, 2008 500ml bottle, not bad at all! Poured a deep Coke Cola brown with a small off-white/beige head that settled into a thin lacing. Aromas of toasted grains and roasted coffee malts with a light fruitiness. Moderate carbonation and a crisp, slick and smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Very tasty, a sweet caramel toffee and a roasted coffee, a soft fruitiness, a light spiciness from the hops, a little caramelized sugary towards the end and a sweet roasted malty finish.
