We are using Mandarin hops from Germany and using special orange which add Japanese orange taste. We call this special orange Fukure Mikan. This orange were wild mandarin orange which have almost 1500 years history and only cultivated in Tsukuba Mountain near our brewery. Fuku is ’symbol of happiness’ and Kure is ’coming’ and Mikan is orange. So Fukure Mikan means "orange which will bring forth happiness!"

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear amber color. Thin but persistent white head. Aroma of candied citrus, floral notes and pale malts. The taste is caramel malts, floral notes, sweet and bitter citrus, mild earth and vegetal notes. Medium bodied. Medium bodied and refreshing. Definitely on the sweet side, but not cloying.

Aromas of mandarin oranges and a little nutty. Clear dark orange with a decently lasting off-white head. A little sweet, fruity, definitely pronounced mandarin orange. Medium bodied, very smooth.

The aroma is sweet, fruity, spicy, yeasty. The appearance is hazy orange, white head. The flavor is fruity, peppery, not as sweet as I would have expected. The finish is spicy, yeasty. Slightly thick in body, smooth creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, but not outstanding.

Draft at Blind Tiger courtesy of Andy (Mr. Puzzl). Cheers, Dad. Pours a bright, cloudy orange body with white lacing. Aroma is fragrent and floral with a fruity, earthy hoppiness. Mouthfeel is medium with a nice dry bitterness, citrus fruits, oranges, and lemon. Nice floral flavors again, which work well with the bitterness.

Tap at the Blind Tiger. Cloudy orange pour with a small head. The aroma is more orange grove than orange, woodsy and phenolic with a great bitterness behind it. Full flavored and perfectly colored with orange notes, not juice like some contemporary beers but a fine bitterness, more in line with an Italian amaro than beer. Lovely stuff.
