This amber ale is a reddish chocolate brown beer with rich malt and bitter hops. Please enjoy the well-balanced flavor and taste.

Bottle from Hasegawa. Caramel forward nose with some brown sugar and lightly toasted tomitsu. Taste is fairly sweet on the palate. Very malt driven beer. Some bitterness in there as it warms up. Maybe a roasty bitterness I guess. Bittersweet finish that coats the palate. Not bad.

pours slightly reddish but mainly brown with very minimal head, ringed retention, small CO2, a few fast-moving CO2 streams along the perimeter, sporadic thin sticky lacing. Malts, some hops and a bit of tangerine on the nose. Strong fruity tangerine/clementine up front (a la IPA), transitioning nicely into a malty, minor chocolate, half hoppy, 5/10 bitter finish. Medium complexity, Medium depth, long length, good carry. Doesn’t look particularly impressive from the colour or the pour, but is actually quite balanced and solid. Body holds well and transitions are clean.

Bottle from Yamaoka. 2010 version. Sweet, malty, caramel aroma is stronger than in the original. Dark brown with orange tints and a medium, tan, fine head. Malty, rich, caramel flavor with a bit of chocolate as well. Hops less intense than in the original. Rather chewy. Nice bitter-roasty finish with just enough hops. Nice bitter finish last a long while. Definitely on the sweeter, maltier side, but still well balanced and nice.
