COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

Dark golden coloyr. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet, bready malty flavour. Wouldn’t call this an ipa

14oz draught pint at Draft & Craft, Singapore on 07/08/2015. Dark orange amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, malt and spices. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet herbal flavour, with tea, mandarins and malt. Slightly spicy, lightly hopped. Not bad but not so easy to drink.

Nice fruity aroma. Beautifully fruity and citrus, like it had been made with NZ or US hops. Sits orange in the glass. Super sweetness from the malt. Not extravagant or pushy, but this could easily be your summer fridge staple

Tea, feet, raisin, and prune nose. The latter was hard to identify as it wasn’t something I expected to find in an IPA, but it definitely smells of raisins and prunes. Clear amber with white chunks, thick head with very little retention. Distinct tea flavor, ringed with much more subtle prune notes. Light and fizzy, somewhat dry. Very little hop presence for an IPA.

A dark orange/golden color. Small head that dissipated quickly. Good lacing left on the glass.Aromas of oranges, yeast, fruity candy, nice but not very strong smell.Flavor starts with sweet orange and citrus, the hops are present but not overwhelming as they are counteracted by the sweet citrus and malts. Overall its not bad, ok in its own way. Very subtle flavors, not at all close to our aggressive IPA’s

Slightly unusual tasting IPA, tastes fruity, with a bitter after-taste. Doesn’t taste like 6%

L: pours copper, small head that soon vanishes, lots of small floaty bits. S: the mikan is dulled by the malt. Pretty uninteresting and a whiff of stale odour. T: I get the fruit but it has a flat sour and slightly sweet taste. Kinda like eating an actual mikan. F: waiting for the hops that never came. The fruit stays on the front on the tongue and the malt hits the back of the mouth. Some fizz. O: a bit of a shame really. It must be an English IPA with that malt and lack of hop kick? A not very well done one at that. Baird does much nicer fruit ales if you’re in Japan.

6.2% ABV Attractive enough head which dissolves quickly. The mandarin orange peel comes through so very coyly in the nose; Very clean hoppy mouthfeel right away and all the way to the end. Refreshing with the bitter herbaceousness leavened a little by the citrusy nose. There is a subtle sweetness right after the tang of the hops and a very brief interlude where you can taste the malty beer that this excellent refreshing brew is rooted in. Says right on the label that it’s brewed with Fukuremikan which is a sweet mandarin varietal not too distantly related to the ponkan, which makes me think of Chinese New Year when I take a whiff of this excellent brew. It comes out being highly refreshing without too much carbonation and heavy enough to not be dismissed as another "hard soft drink". It’s a little crass and more than a little random, but it smells so nice when you burp.
