IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

Pours hazy pale Amber with almost no head. The aroma is dominated by orange zest, but there's iron too. Acidic taste, low bitter finish. Disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was looking forward to this, as the other Hitachino beers that Iíve had have been excellent; unforunately, this disappointed; I didnít make notes, but I recall it as much too thin, a bit bitter without much flavour and certainly not the anticipated citrus explosion.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Hazy orange. Halo of off white head. Some orange. Orange pith. Orange zest. Very orangey, then. Some sweet malts. Taste is zesty bitter. A bit metallic. Lots of carbonation turns it Jusodatastic. Finishes watery dry, and bitter.

330ml bottle from Hasegawa Liquors, Tokyo. Poured into an English tulip half-pint glass. Big citrus aroma: tangerine, mikan, daidai. Pours a golden amber with a nice off-white head. Great balance between malts and hops. Very floral taste as well as aroma. Orange zest, apricot and slight zest flavor come out as it warms up. Really solid IPA.

330ml bottle from Lions Den, Yarm. Clear amber gold colour, white foam head and aroma of caramel, juicy orange, tangerine. Taste is malt caramel with fruity citrusy zest orange & tangerine, plus some spicy bitterness. Slightly oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, orange rind fruity & bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

I am surprised and delighted to have found this in my home city of Christchurch (NZ). I carefully poured this beer into the glass finding an amber body with masses of carbonation and a rocky white head that left good lace down the side of the glass. The aroma was somewhat muted, but offered some stewed apricot and peaches. The flavour was much more forthright with those aromas present with some good herbal hoppiness that offered a goodly bite that prolonged the enjoyment of this beer. A tasty little number and one Iím sure Iíll be back for.

Light on hops but heavy on citrus with fair balance in the malts. Drinkable but not much to write about. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Backog rating. 33cl bottle at the Chrisoís May tasting, London. It pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty, with notes of dried leaves, caramel, biscuit, citrus. Taste is sweet with notes of brown sugar, caramel, orange zest and dried leaves. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, decent IPA

(Keg at Drink Baar, 20141228) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized, dense, white and it lasted long. Aroma had citricness, orange and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, orange juice, sweetness, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity, hoppy and bitter. An imperial radler, what a weird idea. Not bad after all.

Light haze on this rich gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Dry pale malts, whisper of lactose. A nice candy tangerine - orange and then a whisper of piney hops. Light semi dry finish brings a touch of raw malts. Can see why this is classified as a fruit beer, needs to be a lot hoppier. Drinkable though.
